"do any of u guys have instant messengers"

I do now.

lanproductions@hotmail.com , i'll be on for a while, but i think the time difference isn't going to help us. Seeing as we posted 7 hous appart.

Ok. You need to plug your Fantom into you computer, I can't tell you how because it deppends on you sound card. In most cases you would have i mini jack input (like headphones for a walkman), once connected you need to be able to capture that input, follow this on your computer; Go to volume control. Go to options, then properties. Select Recording then ok. Then Select the CORRECT input ie. AUX or Line In, then play around with the RECORDING volume control. This is assuming your using windows.

Now i'm not to sure how fruityloops works, but there must be a way to record sound from an input.

Seriously, this is all i can help you with, without flying over and pluging it in for you, unless your willing to pay the fair? ;)

Oh yeah, sorry...also,

"what exactly is skip back sample"

It turns the last 40 seconds (max) of what you just played into a .wav file, which you can later edit and add to your tracks. Im sorry, but how could you own an S for maybe 1-2years and not know what that bright blue button does?

See page 121 in your Fantom S manual for more info.

yeahh. fruityloops time counter is a little bit slower, even if you set the same tempo...If your FS tempo is 100.000 then set fruityloops tempo to approximetly 100.690....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...And then you say, that you ar expert about FS, actually you mean, that you know only 50% of it's powerfull options.
This is how I play my Fantom-S

C Stylez,

You really do need a manual to learn a machine as deep as the Fantom.

You can download the manual from the Roland site. I would strongly suggest it at htis point so that you can have a basic reference. There are also some very good Workshop series on the site that serve as tutorials.

Check it out. . . . . . . .

wow, you still ain't got this working??

I would suggest you forget about fruityloops. everything you can do in fruity, you can do on the Fantom. Let go of Fruity all together, and it'll get easier to work on the Fantom.......seriously.

First thing you need to do, is press the mixer key, call up a performance, with seq in the title. As you play around, you can learn to save your own, and add them to your favorites.

from the mixer view, at the top, you should see the name of the patch that is currently assigned to the first channel. press the right cursor key, till you are on channel 10, and you should have a drum kit selected. change the kit if you want. press the sequencer key, now press record. press the down cursor key, till you get to loop mode, set it for 4 or 8 bars. press start. Now you can play on the pads, or the keys. just play one drum sound at a time, if you know you want your kick on 1 & 3, just do it, listen to the click. If you can't get it right, practice till you can. Or you can use the quantize later, but you should try to get it as close as possible. Now let's get your snare, and hi hat, clap, what ever. You can put all these on seperate channels if you want. after you've got a part down, press the record button. this will put you into rehearse mode. you won't record anything you play no, so you can rehearse a part, audition a sound, get your timing together, that kinda thing. Now press the mixer button, and use the cursor keys to select a new part.

Also, if you will learn how to get samples from your computer to your Fantom, and vice versa, then learn how to load a sample, and assign it to an instrument, it'll make working with samples easy, since the Fantom matches tempo automatically. you can get your sequence going, then hit a pad, or a key to drop it into your sequence, on time.

dont like makin beats on fantom cause i dont like the drums...i like to mix drums and also sample and its easier if i jus record into FL

run it thru rewire

Midi is not going to give you sound. By way of midi for FL you'll just have a controller to play the sound in that program. NOW if you run it rewire thru a host program like pro tools and some others then you can have the sequence you made plus the sounds from you fantom.
