When the stripped down version of Fantom will be on the run ? Successor of Fa series , a competitor for MoDX and Krome Ex (with zencore and supernatural engine ) !

Why is it assumed to be a stripped down version, please ?

Hi FGM,

As I just received a notfication from YT rolandchannel product release, I read the specs from new Fantom-08

Keybed: PHA-4 versus PHA-50 from Fantom-8
Weight 13Kg vs 36Kg
Size: more "slim"
Tone remain: only supports 8 zones
No vPiano
Screen size a little bit smaller 5.5" vs 7"
Number of samples 2048 vs 8000
No cv/gate
Audio output MAIN/SUB vs MAIN/SUB1/SUB2
Standard (DIN) MIDI Ports IN/OUT vs IN/OUT1/OUT2/THRU
Foot pedals jacks (no CTRL3 )

I cant get List price published right now
Best regards
Flavio

And I believe it doesn't have the analog filter nor the balanced outputs.

FANTOM-06: $1,499.99
FANTOM-07: $1,799.99
FANTOM-08: $1,999.99

256 MB instead of 2 GB for multisample/expansion.

All other differences are expected I guess, but I was hoping for 500 MB - 1 GB instead of 256 MB. But sort of understandable.

My problem is that it's not 2004, 256MB feels cheap, at least 512MB or 768MB. Yes there is a chip shortage but no, the product makes sense, but not really.

Been looking at this with interest as a longtime happy FA06 owner. I looked at the bigger Fantom's but too expensive, heavy, (built well) and full of features that I didn't need, but a great display and UI. Looking at Roland Cloud they seem to be charging $149 for each of the synth (Jupiter, SH101,,,) packs for the Fantom 0 , yet they are free for the bigger Fantom ? Ouch so that's an extra $600. if you buy all the packs or am I missing the point. ? The keybed on the Fa06 is poor, but I think I'll keep it for a while longer as cost of upgrade at least $800 would only gain me a better keybed, and more useful sample import.

You can get a lot of sound packs free for the FA06 and an awful lot of very good synth emulations (eg Aturia V collection).

If I didn't have an FA then it would be a potentially viable option,as I use lots of layers for a 60's 70's covers band though the screen looks a bit small.

Nearly Roland ..but Roland Cloud price for the expansions is a bit cheeky.

More differences...

no aftertouch
No LED indicators on the left-side controls
no dedicated real-time synth controls (except filter)
external AC adapter instead of internal power supply.
no n/Zyme expansion

I've had my Fantom 06 a few days now, and couldn't wait to get the classic model expansions installed on it.
Then I saw it was $150 each for a lifetime key, so yeah, I guess I can wait.
Bit of a crap move by Roland at $600 for the set, and could very well be a deal breaker for some potential Fantom 0 buyers.
