Controlling Rotary Speed and Tremelo with sustain/hold pedal

Yes, of course this is possible. Choose a sound, which uses the Rotary-Effect and then switch to Edit-Effects-Screen.
Go to MFX and there to CTRL. Normally you have the following settings:
CC01: Modulation SPEED +63
SYS CTRL3 SPEED +63
SYS CTRL4 SPEED +63
OFF OFF 0

Set at the fourth position (where is shown "OFF")
CC64 HOLD-1 and here also SPEED +63.

Now you are able to control the Effect by the hold-pedal !

I tried to do this and I did eventually manage to get the pedal to control the speed, but it also held the sopund which was no use. how can I cancel the hold /sustain function while keeping it as a rotary speed control?

Has anyone found an answer to this - controlling the rotary speed through the expression / any pedal. I have asked roland twice and still no answer
