Romantic Strings... Achievable?
4 Aug 2008, 16:02I have both SRX 4&6, and as EatYerWheeeteez recently said in sambasevam's thread, they have...
"...Lots of strings. Short, tall, fat skinny...strings strings strings strings...."
Indeed there are lots of very impressive string sounds to be found. However, although I find the ensemble string patches great for a straight Baroque type sound, none of them, including for example the so-called 'Warm Strings' seem to match my Yamaha keyboard for 'Romantic' sounds, i.e. what I would actually call 'Symphonic' strings.
I know one of the joys of the Fantom is in being able to build a sound up. And maybe the problem here is just I'm ignorant about tweaking, so I just bought Art's Tweakbook, and very impressive it looks.
But before I get stuck in to the book, I thought I'd try cheating and ask if anyone has thoughts on how to achieve a lush string sound that just melts you when you hear it, you know, as if 100 strings were acompanying Nat King Cole rather than playing Bach. (And it seems it's s not just a question of tweaking the chorus and reverb.)
Ideas much appreciated, and yes I know I've gotta sit down and read the book!!
Cheers.
