Jordan Rudess and Fantom-G, shit happens!!!

So it sounds like Roland is endorzering Rudess now instead of Rudess endorzering Roland? Man, all is so complicatered.

It does seem possible that this failure was caused by the G8 getting tossed around in a bad case - hopefully that explains it.

I did find this statement by Jordan quite interesting:

Just another reason why making the Fan-G bigger was a bad idea ... it won't fit in standard flight cases ... Another wrong design direction from Roland ...

It seems that Artemiy's excellent English has declined precipitously in quality since the arrival of Grammar Wombat. Is he trying to prompt a visit by that marsupial grammarian? Well, GW doesn't show up at "the drop of a hat," not even for The Man!

Besides, Grammar Wombat appears to have gone missing. Have any of you seen him? I hope V-CeeOh's cat has nothing to do with it!

Yesterday I went to my favorite music shop for another incursion on the G for trying to decide if this will be my next board !!!

I was there playing the G for about an hour, basically trying out sounds and exploring the sonic capabilities, trying to recreate some of my favorite sounds, when suddenly, I pressed the Expansion board selection button... Guess what happened... the thing just crashed and blocked completely !!!
I tried everything, but the only way to solve was (as always) to power off /power on. Ah... Of course, this G didn't have any ARX card inserted.

I tried to recreate the problem again, but it never failed again. I think that was due to a sequence of key stokes that I couldn't replicate...

Just for the record, this board had the 1.10 loaded. So Roland must have a look to that, as... Sh... happens !!!

P.S: I almost forgot...The keybed is good, but makes a lot of plunk noise and I like my RD's 170 better...just a matter of taste.

PauloF, it's your fault! Why on earth would you want to press the Expansion board selection button if you have no expansion board?

I had that happen to too, a few times actually, while testing it in the store. I didn't find an exact sequence to reproduce this but I can't say I really tried as I was just trying to make the most of my testing time.

There's a few things Roland needs to fix and improve in the G, then I will consider it again.

This is not the point, dudes..

No company is making a 100% bugfree synth or product, this is not possible...

The point is that JD is a Roland endorser and if he find a bug he has to call up his Roland agent without spreading the bug in the internet...!

Just trying to add a little 'zest' to what could otherwise be a very bleek world and . . . of course, as an employee of Roland Japan (sort of), I am pro-Roland. My mandate is to support Roland and it's products. That is why my name is secret Roland agent, not secret Yamaha agent, secret Korg agent or, heaven forbid, secret Casio agent!! You're right, but... JD has other ways to report bugs that I won't never have.
In fact I'm a Roland fan and that's why I've posted the bug here. Not to "blame" Roland. Instead, I've reported the bug because I think, that is reporting bugs that Roland could make the boards better. And all of us want the best, won't we ?
