Re: Juno-G vs XP-60, which one would be prefer? in JUNO-G · 28 Nov 2007

Why wouldn't you consider buying a second hand Fantom S if you're prepared to spend $600? You can find it on eBay for 600-700 USD. Well, if you *have* to choose between XP and Juno, then definitely XP.

SonicMan, you said "I dont know what a computer DAW is". Well, look it up. Trust me, you will definitely need to know... There'a a lot of information on the net. Here's a kink for starters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D...

Skyline, it really does not have to be a world class song to sound attractive enough to somebody who may "borrow" certain parts, licks, chord progression, even instrumentation and arrangement techniques. My favorite band...

Re: Organ patches for Fantom X - Expansion Card? in Fantom-S and Fantom-X · 29 Oct 2007

The organs are by far the weakest point of Fantoms (S and X). Quite frankly, they simply suck. SRX-07 does have some decent patches, but if you are a live performer and if you're after B3 emulation the card is not going...

Stevie, you made a good point here - all in one is almost always wrong, just like printer-scanner-fax combos where usually one or two components suck big time. Sequenser, sampler, expansion boards, polyphony... aren't we...

Hey Radek, are you sure you know what you are talking about? XS is not that much improved compared to ES? You must have a truly unusual way of looking at things...

Re: Fantom X or Motif XS in Fantom-S and Fantom-X · 14 May 2007

I would recommend Fantom. But only because you said you would be learning either of these keyboards from the ground up. Fantom is just easier to learn. Otherwise, it's a matter of taste. I'm sure you realize that tastes...

Re: Psychology ? in Latest News / Free Zone · 4 May 2007

No question, good monitors are probably the most crucial components of the studio equipment. Better monitors usually result in better mixes. Nobody argues with that. But still, the importance of overpriced and overhyped...

Re: ready to take the plunge in Fantom-S and Fantom-X · 2 May 2007

I've had Fantom S since 2003 and XR since the day it was released (I gave S to my son). I'm a big Roland fan - still have JV2080, it's 10 years old now! Believe me, there's nothing wrong with Fantoms, they are fabulous w...
