Yes I know!

Maybe I'm not being very good at making my point. The Integra is a rack unit and as far as any of us know (yet) there is no 'companion' keyboard to go with it. So it is a dedicated productline producing one thing - a rack.

The Radias and M3 could be used as 'racks' (the M3 is tabletop at best) but they had an associated productline producing keyboards to be used with only that 'rack' (ie would be difficult to use the radias keys with an M3 on top).

So - comparably - the last dedicated rack-only productline (ie with no associated keys) version of a Korg was the Triton - for which you could use any old keyboard to trigger; there were no Korg keyboards designed to go along with the rack version.

So like for like on a rack-only, no associated keyboard 'options' basis, The Integra is brand new and the Triton was the last one from Korg.

So who's right? Korg for not having a dedicated rack-only version of the Kronos (for example) or Roland, releasing their newest product which is rack-only?

Sorry if I wasn't clear :(

I see 16 bar graphs - 16 parts? I'm thinking this module uses SRX waves and the JP SN synth minus VA waveforms. Some new FX processing for a unique sound. This is not a Jupiter rack.

That's the way folks on other forums are interpreting it - 16 part multi.

If correct it means it's not a Jupiter-80 inside... it's four of them!

But I jest - I don't think this unit has anything to do with the JP-80 at all.

This is possibly much more than a Jupiter Rack !!!

INTEGRA-7 has all SuperNATURAL Acoustic AND SuperNATURAL Synth Tones from the Jupiter-80 on board. The VA (Virtual Analog) engine of the Jupiter-80 IS therefore on board as all the other SN Acoustic sounds. And what we JP-80 users will miss, are the SuperNatural Drum Sounds of the INTEGRA-7. On top of all of this, INTEGRA-7 users get all 12 SRX Boards and the Motional Surround Technology, plus I guess a ton of effects....

The INTEGRA-7 offers 16-part multitimbrality, which (and I am guessing here) means 16 "slots" fillable with one single sound. Which would mean, that you can either have a single SN-Synth Tone or a single SN-Acoustic Tone or a SRX sound or a V-Drum drumset sound in each of those 16 slots, while the JP-80 is offering just 10 slots: 2 x 4 [LiveSet] plus 2 x 1 [Solo, Perc Part].

The question remains, how many voices the INTEGRA-7 will have?

And will the INTEGRA-7 diminish the value of the Jupiter-80?

From the removed product page:

the new INTEGRA-7 sound module gives musicians a gold mine of the latest SuperNATURAL sounds in a fast-access, fully-stocked 16-part module. The powerhouse rack comprises a "greatest hits" collection of sounds from Roland's flagship keyboards and V-Drums modules, plus all 12 boards in the acclaimed SRX library. Then there's a new technology called Motional Surround, a 17-part ambience engine that lets you graphically control the distance and position of each part within a 360-degree sound field. With the immense power of the INTEGRA-7, you can create amazingly realistic and detailed orchestral arrangements, as well as immersive, spatial sounds, and beyond.

Flagship synth module with over 5,000 sounds built in

The latest SuperNATURAL sounds with enhanced Behaviour Modelling technology for expressive acoustic instruments and accurate reproduction of performance articulations

Powerful SuperNATURAL synth engine with fat analogue synth models and vintage filter types

For producers, the "must-have" SRX Expansion sound library is built in; all 12 SRX titles included

Innovative 17-part Motional Surround ambience engine for stereo, headphone, and 5.1-channel output

I see where you're coming from... although what if each of the 16 sound 'slots' could take a 4-part liveset...

Don't think so; just my hunch. Different machine - apples and oranges. But I do think we shall see a v3 OS before too long... The words of my local Roland rep continue to ring in my ears; "the JP-80 is a very important keyboard for Roland..."

Then I would begin to hate ROLAND even more than KORG, after they've killed the OASYS for the Kronos...

I think it is too early to say, if we are indeed comparing apples and oranges. It could be that we have to compare an apple with a whole fruit basket containing an apple!

Or will there be a big surprise for us JP-80 users in about 4 hours?...:)

LOL! No, the one thing that Roland will never do is beat Korg's killing of the OASYS...

That would be nice but I seriously doubt it!

so you can only have 4 of the SRX loaded at a time (1 slot each)? or the PCM data (regular sample ROM) will use all 4 slots?

As shown in the official product video, you can drag (via iPad) 4 of the 12 SRX-Boards into 4 slots, so yes, I guess you can use only 4 SRX-Boards at a time:

Re: INTEGRA-7 SRX-Boards for Jupiter-80?

yes, but there is also information saying that the other "expansions" like the supernatural stuff will take up a slot as well... and the PCM data (which I am assuming is the internal ROM) takes up all 4 slots....

so that means that if you have the internal ROM loaded that you can't load any of the SRX stuff. OR the supernatural stuff...

so it seems that it's either internal ROM or SRX/supernatural...

not a deal breaker... but certainly a big deal...

anyone seen the price yet?
