Good question!
It is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to find a single 1GB stick of PC133 168 PIN non-ECC 3.3 volt SDRAM. If you happen to find one you may pay upwards of $200.00 or possibly more! PC133 is going the way of the dinosaur and will soon most likely be out of production altogether. I really think that was the main reason Roland stuck with the 512MB limit on the Fantom G. They realized that a 1GB stick of non-ECC PC133 would be almost impossible to find on todays market!

Although, Roland could have circumvented that scenario by putting "two" memory slots on the G.

Two 512MB sticks of PC133 SDRAM can still be obtained relatively inexpensively in todays market. Adding another memory slot on the Fantom G would have cost next to nothing for R&D and would have raised the overall price of the Fantom G just a few bucks, if at all in my opinion.
Having said that, I did find one particular company that still sells a 1GB stick of PC133 168 PIN non-ECC 3.3 volt SDRAM for a really good price actually. It is an e-Bay seller by a company called MemoryTen. Here is the link:

If anyone feels adventurous and decides to get it let us know if it works with the Fantom G with OS update 1.10. Or if anybody else already has any 1GB PC133 non-ECC SDRAM and doesn't mind trying it on the G and reporting back with the results we would appreciate it.

If a 1GB stick will now work with OS update 1.10 on the G, I may indeed go ahead and buy a stick for my G7.
