Boss CS-3 Compression/Sustainer: analog or digital?

31 Mar 2006, 13:46
Hey all!

I'd like to know from the guys who own(ed) one, is the CS-3 pedal from Boss (compressor/sustainer) analog or digital?

Thanks,

Artemiy.

Yes, already realized that, as I read it has a "faster VCA", which means it indeed is analog. BTW, do you have one? What do you think about it?

GT-8 is amazing. I heard it many times and played in a band with a guitarist rockin' through it. Truly great sound.

The boss pedals are guitar oriented. They all roll off some of the guitar's high frequency and add noise. I would think a rack mount stereo compressor would be a much better solution for keyboards.

I have been using my GT-5 in the send/return loop on my mixer for delay and harmonizer functions. This is a parallel signal application. However the compressor need to be in series with the signal.

I'll look at my box of Boss pedals later tonight and see if I have one in the pile (I think I do). After a screwdriver, I'll tell you what's inside. Well, maybe after a beer.
