Can Roland challenge the Oasys?

Can Roland challenge the Oasys?

Hello Everyone.

I have done research on the Korg oasys, I have played and enjoyed it very much. i feel that its price way out of my price range. I wanted to know is roland up to the challenge that korg has presented, can they build a synth on the same level
and price it lower than there's.It's like those car companies
that build domestic cars, then build a race car for the race circuit, they use the knowledge to implemnt that into their sports cars. i for one want to hear the roland sound bigger,
phatter, sounds are thinner compared to the Motif es
and Triton Extreme and Oasys. I like the engine in the MV8000, that has a big sound comming out of it, So if anyone
knows if roland is going to build something on the same spec's
as the Oasys, shout it out, because i know roland has the ability to do it! Go ahead Roland, flex your muscles, load your best sample library's,put the best VL synth, physical modeling
big color screen, digital I/O,Ad converters,Cd burner, hard drive. Call spectra sonic and get that guy who voiced the D50
when it came out, they have that RMX drum module thats the bomb. Go on<"PUSH THE ENVOLOPE" let these korg folk know
that you can top that! "CAN I GET AN AMEN< CAN I GET A WITNESS, Slap SOMEBODY AND SAY, ROLAND BUILD THAT WORKSTATION!

Workstations sucks! :-)

Be stay in your car example: that big workstations are in my eyes 300mph-fast-8 seat-familyfriendly-offroad-3liter/100km TANKS nobody really needs. Right? If you REALLY need a studio, you want a 32-chanel console and stuff like this. If you wanna go on stage you need a flexible and userfriendly sound machine, if you are a "patch-o-holic" :-) you need a 19"-rack full of synth or NI Reaktor :-) Say it isn't so!

Don't get me wrong: I really like the FX7, its a good mix ... and your right ... I think some sounds are not as fat as others but... i think with a little bit of tweaking you can get rid of this...

I think you must re-phrase your question - Its not a matter of "can Roland do it ?" but "should Roland do it?". The Oasys is an amazing keyboard. But time will tell if this was a good move from Korg or not.

Can Roland do it?
Well, lets see....
A FantomX8, a VK-88, a V-Synth, a VS-2480DVD recorder, a VM-7200//7200C mixer, a MV8000 (at your request), an 17" LCD touch display and, why not, one of these to print your notation sheet or your girl/boyfriend pic.... mmmmm.... yes...... we can say Roland can do it. ;-)

Ask yourself
are you a techno freak or a musician?

A musician is a master of his art and his instrument.

A techno freak will play with his toys get board and move on to the next.

Im not realy bothered by it, i have got use to the FX
and to me it seems endless what you can do once you pick up on the methodology.

If you lilke the oaysis, you could always upgrade or buy it.

I cant see my self rushing out for a new synth/workstation unless it brings something real! fantastic with it.

its not about the latest and greatest,

its all about making music

so lets keep doing that
and let technology will look after itself. ;-)

Quinnx. Iam really after sounds,It sounds Good,Roland has
better sounds in expansion cards and Cd librarys, they make you buy those expansions to up grade your synth, well place them all in a 61 or 76 work station, with a built in Cd burner and hard drive,I have yet to see them do this. The MV8000
could have been the FX with keys, thats what iam saying
Korg has the Triton studio/HD,Cd, Extreme with all their expansion in the board, ability to burn your own cd with an
external drive,Roland got to step up!

Re: Can Roland challenge the Oasys?

I will say this much..

i wont buy another roland with the same crap! file system
i do like that on the oaysis you can use external devices so the file system must be a hell of alot better.

this could be fixed if they wanted to do it in lest time than it takes to right a good piece of music.

but i dont want to get into a debate about the files system.

what i will say is that when roland try to make out that theres alot of work to make any significant change to FX its aload of Blx
and i base that on years of programming experience.

but thats yet another debate.

so anyways... roland will do only what it needs to
and as long as people are willing to buy current architecture there not going to change the way they build.

its only when sales start to drop and its the competition that gets the golden nugget
thats when they will change, and then it will be only just enough to get people to start buying roland again.
then they will go back to there old habits again.

Can they challege??? Of course they can.

Will they challenge????? Dont think so.

If they challenge, the product will cost as much or eve more than the Osays.

Will we buy it?????? Dont thinks so.

We would have bought the Oasys already.

Why would we limit each ellement to have them all in one if we can get a couple of individual equipment and have more totall capabilitys with less money??????

Think about it

An FX7 a PC and some software and you have much more capabilities with a lot less money. Oh and a bigger screeen.

If some how Roland comes up with an FX with a Hard drive and improve loading times and also rise the amount of audio tracks, of course not rising the price tag so much. I,ll be sure to get it

Can Roland challenge the Oasys

30 Sep 2005, 12:34
WE HAVE NOT BECAUSE WE ASk NOT!

Theres no harm in asking for better products, when i had my XP50, i wrote more song's for people off of that board than any other board i had. They "Voiced" that keyboard right!
and you can hear those nylon rhodes, nice piano and a few other patches on people cd's still, I don't see much differance
in the FX, there's nothing that floors me,to me it's a glorifide
XP50 with sampling, love the favorite features it has,but still
Roland can do better,FX+MV8000+V Synth= Roland FMV

it's only for rich kids without daddy's attentions...
they're too rich to think at its price...
i have an xtreme + a fx6...and let me tell you..
they're great together....
but no HI.price workstations will xclude or made without ...
the First energy the creativity...
i don't wanna som'thing so well packed that makes all almost itself...
i want to xtract the sounds form the hardware and to create somethin unusual...
for me first there's the sound, then the groove, then the melody, then armony and last but not least the text...
that's my procedure...but without a good sound....and a good intention within it and inside me....i can use 1000 Oasys without nothing more than some beauty expensive jokes....

then there's another reason to don't buy Oasys....and
it's the time which will decrease it's price, and the NAMMS...
the next its only 4 months far...so..
i will wait...'cause ok...Oasys seems really fantastic...
and the fact is this...seems...,
such all the last gear released and such all my hardware before to buy it....
and one word on my hardware,,,i think that a note+SX3+a wavestation "2" vsti+atmosphere+absynth 3+kontakt 2,,,
it's more powerful and more more affordable than the Oasys one..yes it's all integrated...but...i prefer my self maded setup
bye

i've loved fantom and tritons then i've found my Oasys..i'm dead...i haven't money for the water...
i've loved fantom and tritons then i've found my Oasys..
i swap it for m3m and Fantom G....

I'm not buying an $8000+ workstation, no matter who makes it. If I'm goign to put that much money down on something, I'll get a few different things in the name of diversify of sound.

Actually, come to think of it... what I WOULD pay that much money for would be a modular work station... and by modular, I mean you could actually buy chunks of hardware with knobs & sliders & sound generators. Kind of like an SRX expansion, only actual hardware with surfaces and stuff. With 3rd party companys being able to work on the modules. That would be damn sweet if you ask me.
