Site Text

I am new to the site and don't want to be a whiner but.... is it just me or is this site hard to read. I am not an old fart (39) but the low contrast and small fonts wear my eyes out.

I have been poking around on the Keyboardmag forum and their site a nice crisp black on white abd a joy to read.

Not the end of the world but I just thought I would throw in my 2 cents.

Love Everything else though!

Love the site, but I have to agree. I was surprised when I first found the site, but I guess I've gotten used to it....:^(

Artemio, you should implement a CSS font size thing.. I've seen where you can click on a text link and it'll change the size immediately. Also have this size set in the user's profile prefs.

Another thing you should do is provide at least 1 or 2 other skin types, since apparently this one isn't high-contrast enough for others.

The site appears fine for me in Firefox on the PC, but on the Mac the main content font is Times New and really small.

I agree, when I use my pc all is fine but when using my mac at full screen the font is very very small.

Okay, I will think about the contrast. But as about font size - if your browser is any good, you can increase font size easily. But I indeed can put this in the user profile.

The other thing I highly suggest is to automate URL linking. The URL BB code is useful mostly for shortening links, but I don't want to have to use it all the time, especially when the link isn't too long.

I agree that we have some control over font size but if the contrast can be changed that would be great!

Thanks,

Todd

Yes, I can change the font size in my browser, but then it changes it for every web site I visit and most of them are fine. This one is too small compared to them, for my money.

Phait:

Yes, I know, I am working on this. It's that the previous URL auto-parser was buggy and I simply excluded it when I added BBcode.

But guys, please also understand that this forum software is written completely by me...

Please don't change the contrast - It would change the feel too much and become like any other website.

Okay, Dog, I will follow your advise! I like it much more than the other's...

Artemio, I reckon this site is great the way it is. As DogZilla pointed out it got its own personal presence because it was build by yourself and therefore stands out from the rest of all the other sites. Fantomized feels 'homely' and cosy - not cluttered, clinical and soul-empty.

Quinnx sorted it out anyway.

Yes, but still I think I will add the functionality to specify font size and colour for your browser and save in cookies, e.g. so you can have one forum look for your TFT laptop monitor and other for your CRT workstation monitor.

I know this is an ancient thread, but I just found a way to work around this issue. Firefox has a plugin called Stylish that allows the user to specify custom CSS on a per-url basis. By overriding the site CSS, you can basically define your own look and feel for a given site.

My current rules for this forum are:

@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document domain(forums.rolandclan.info) {

body, p, td, input, textarea, select{
color: #000000 !important;
}

a, a:hover {
color: black !important;
}

.f_subject {
color: #FFFFFF!important;
background: #FFFFFF !important;
}

.forum_thread {
font-family: verdana,sans;
color: #550000;
text-decoration: none;
font-weight: normal;
letter-spacing: 0px;
font-size: 11px;
}

.forum_thread:hover{
color: #000000 !important;
text-decoration: underline !important;
}

.site{
color: #000000 !important;
}

.f_s_link, .f_s_link:hover{
color: #000000;
}

}
