Digital Cameras

Just thought i'd ask if any of you technical dudes know anything about digital cameras.

I'm looking at getting a Nikon D70 and it occoured to me that having read so much indepth technical advice here, that one or more of you guys might just be an expert in this field too. Any comments or suggestions welcome.

spec:
look for optical zoom as apose to digital zoom

Resolution:
i think 5 mega pixals is standard now

Zoom:
if it has a very high optical zoom like x10
look for image stabilization or all you will get at that magnification is BLUR if taking pictures by hand..
else you will need to use a tri-pod

Thats it.!

now go buy that camera.

A friend of mine just got a D70 and it is a fantastic camera. It's got a bigger matrix compared to other cameras of this range, so the quality of the images is better since the neighboring pixels interact less. I saw many pics and they are stunning, virtually like a film camera.

I've got a 4 mpix Canon A85 here and although it's not a pro camera like D70, I am very happy with colours and dynamics of the images. It also has 9-point autofocus as well as full manual mode which lets it be creative when needed.

One of my favorite sites is www.dpreview.com for digital camera stuff.
The D70 has gotten excellent reviews overall. I think you would be very happy with it. Digital SLRs are finally starting to come down to reasonable prices.

Thanks Guys

I just found some evidence on the web that nikon will release the D70s at the end of the month in the uk, which is supposed to be a revamped model of the D70.

So i can now either wait for the price of the D70 to come down, or wait for the new one. But either way i think i'm going to get it (wife permitting)!

However, there is always the "how many SRX boards could i buy with the money" debate to be had with my concience.......mmmm
