HELP! MY RD-700 is wrecked!! :_(

I had a little accident today, my keyboards fell down the stand (ouch!), my XP-80 fell on top of the RD-700 and cracked one of the internal pcb (pwb 02564545 00). Now my RD-700 won't produce any sound anymore, although the keyboard works ok as a midi controller, that cracked pcb had something to do with the audio out.

I BOUGHT THIS KEYBOARD FROM ANOTHER PERSON 2 years ago, I have no way to repair it unless I find someone who can get me a substitute pcb. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME, PLEASE?

Call roland spares in your country, they will have the board you need, and you can probably fit it yourself if you're handy at these things, won't be too difficult.

I don't know what country you are in but call Roland and they will direct you to the closest service center.

Get your RD to the service center

Well, it's an easy repair procedure, I can substitut it myself, but I'm afraid with the idea of not finding the damn pcb, because I live in Portugal, and Roland's support here isn't very easy to find, they'll probably ask a lot of $$$$ for the part in the nearest store. Once I was searching for a part for my Roland XP-80 (a problem wich I solved by myself in the end with a solder iron) and you can't imagine the amount of phone calls I had to make to lots of places, to reach a rude technician that told me there was nothing to do.

If I can't find a decent solution, PLEASE, isn't there anyone here that knows a Roland technician how could ask the part and send it to me to Portugal? I would pay in advance...

Bem, parece que já falaste com a assitencia técnica. Sempre foi politica da Roland não vender material de reparação de forma que parece que estas num beco sem saída - tens mesmo que levar o teclado a um tecnico.
Já contactas-te o Roland Planet de Aveiro? Eu sei que também têm assistência propria. Não tenho comigo o numero de telef. mas o site é www.rolandplanet.net. Pode ser que eles te possam ajudar. Boa Sorte

In case someone cares, this is the exact part I'm looking for. I'm waiting for some answers at the moment, but if someone could confirm me that the board comes with all this stuff soldered on it would be great :-)

If you are handy with a soldering iron, you could probably repair the PCB by scraping away the green lacquer on either side of the each PCB track that is broken by the crack and bridge it by re-tinning the tracks with solder. Could be worth a go.

Any replacement board you buy from Roland will be complete with all components soldered on. They are always like this so that a repair technician only needs to replace the board assembly & plug it back in.

Well, I wouldn't mind giving it a try, since I have here a soldering iron and all the equipment i need to do that, BUT I am really afraid of doing something wrong and screw up something else. I prefer to pay for a new part than taking the chance. Thanks for your information! :-)

I was just thinking that since the alternative was to replace it, it was worth giving a go... but I can't say I blame you for erring on the side of caution... best of luck with procuring a spare from Roland :o)

F***!!! I GOT THE F****** PART!! YEY! :)

Damn! I'm gonna get a titanium case for all my roland keyboards...
I don't wanna go through all this again.
