EXT zone issues

EXT zone issues

Hi, I’m new to the Fantom and trying to use external an external expander drives me crazy.
Using a newly initialized scene, if I set a zone to EXTernsl, with a solid green light on it, I have both the expander and the Fantom playing at the same time. On the Fantom, it plays the Tone which was set before I switched the Zone to external.
Whatever I do in terms of configuration, it keeps playing both sounds.
I ended up creating a Blank Tone (all partials off) that I need to set before switching the Zone to external, but that’s not really practical.
I’m I doing something wrong or is this normal behavior of the Fantom?

I would start by disconnecting all MIDI and USB cables, and check if the Fantom still triggers its own sounds if the zone is set to EXTERNAL. If not, then start re-connecting the cables until the problem reappears. My first guess is some kind of MIDI feedback, where one of the external devices is sending the MIDI messages back to the Fantom.

Hi, many thanks, you were perfectly right. My MIDI router had lost its configuration and was sending back the messages to the Fantom itself, thus playing the original Tone from the Zone at the same time. Unplugging the MIDI IN on the Fantom fixed the issue and led me to check the router configuration, which had disappeared. I fixed the configuration and everything is working fine now. Now I now that the Fantom can still play a tone for a zone when it received MIDI message, even though the zone is marked as external.

same issue for me ... i also created a set of blank patches for this matter.

i experienced the same with my ex FA07 ... and thought the Fantom 06 will be better for the management of external gear ... i was wrong 😁
