Should I upgrade my 08 to 1.02?

Should I upgrade my 08 to 1.02?

I have a Fantom 08 currently at version 1.01. Should I upgrade to 1.02? What is the general feeling here?

Reading around on this forum the opinions about 1.02 seem to be a bit mixed but, of course, only those of us with probems tend to post, others may have upgraded with no difficulty.

I also note that the guy who runs the Contemporary Synth channel on YT says the upgrade is essential if you want to work with Ableton Live, which is what I am doing.

I am having some curious problems with zones unpredictably not accepting their assignment or sometime just clearing it. But this only seems to happen when the F08 is connected to Ableton. I am blindly hoping that this might be one of the "minor bugs" that 1.02 addresses.

What are your thoughts?

I read through the forum and seen the topics regarding the update before I even got the device. From my experience I was hesitant, but tried it. No better time to brick something than the same day you got it. The return window is wide open. I tried on a 256 GB drive formated on Windows using a third party program. The first part of the update [Memory] worked easily no problem. Once I got to the second part [External Drive] it just wouldn't see it. I let it hang at the black screen for a good 8 minutes. Never shutting it off I remembered I had a 16 GB flash drive. I used Windows to format to fat32 then dragged the unzipped files to it. Once I inserted it into the External drive port it picked it right up and the update continued. I'm on the newer firmware. I would say just stick to fat32 and make sure it's no bigger than 32 GB you shouldn't have any problems. Also if you get hung up at the black screen with the white text you didn't brick your device it's just the the Fantom 0 can't find your USB stick because they're not speaking the same language so don't panic right away.

I never bothered formating on the Fantom 0 itself like the website says. I just wanted to point that out, because you might feel like if I can't get the Fantom 0's OS to fully boot. How would I format? You are not screwed yet, because you can format in Windows still.
