Soundpacks for Fantom

Roland Folks,

There have been several SDZ releases like Vintage String Machines, French House, Festival Trance, and I assume it will be the same with Modern Industrial and Ethreal Realms that while I can download these patch banks for Zenology on my computer, I can't seem to download them for my Fantom.

These patch banks say "Available in you Library"...but offer no option to put them on a USB for a transfer to the Fantom.

Or...am I mistaken that while they show up in Hardware for Fantom, they are not intended for use in the hardware?

Thanks!

PS: It seems this very question was asked in February in this post. The unsatisfactory recommendation by other users was create a user bank through Zenology. Surely, it can't be that difficult, right?

The first 46 were made available for free FOR FANTOM as part of a Roland promotion.

Subsequent SDZ releases have lifetime keys that can be purchased FOR FANTOM for .99c.

The confusion arises from the fact the promo -also- made those packs available IN SOFTWARE for Zenology Pro, as part of a membership. SDZ packs from 47- are available IN SOFTWARE for free.

That said, there used to be a way to export banks of tones from Zenology, which could then be copied over to Fantom, though suddenly I'm having issues with the Zenology plugin.

Hi EdGe!!

These tones area availables thru RolandCloudManager, and yes! it´s easy. Please verify the category you select is "FANTOM 6/7/8" (not zenology ) and action is "Download" (not install). After e-commerce portal (they're paid), RCM downloads tones as a zip file in your "Download" folder of your operating system.

Inside zip file is sdz file you import into Fantom via USB. As a tip, several SDZ not only comes with tones, but also drums kits, and you import them in two operations: import tones and import drums.
Regards,

Okay, I see where the confusion lays...

So, for me, as a RC subscriber - it is free for the use in Zenology, but must be purchased if I want them on my Fantom...do I have this correctly?

I don't really sure.... In my case, as a Roland's special "offering" I got those expansions released until that offering ( i dont remember if was some months ago). The following expansions's releases were with 0.99 USD cost.

See this thread about that offering https://forums.rolandclan.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=58655.

I'm going nuts with this. I just got a fantom. I installed the Model expansions (juno, jupiter, etc). I also bought some soundpacks.

I was able to download the model expansions and drop them to USB and install them but I can't for the life of me download the expansion packs. This is driving me nuts. I select "Hardware" then Fantom 6/7/8 on the top and scroll to the pack I bought and it says, "Download" and "Lifetime key". I click download and it asks me for a folder. But then it hangs on "Activating" until eventually it just opens a box that says, "A problem was found while trying to activate the instrument. Try again later (E024)."

No matter what I do, I can't download the soundpacks to install in my fantom. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Ionian

Past days, I got a similar error. (Roland cloud services not avaliable). Then I saw a new release of RCM. (2.5.12) Since I cant also upgrade within RCM applcation, I applied the first law of I.T: I download the 2.5.12 installer of the RCM, uninstall the current one and install the new version (with care you must run it as your current userid in windows and only provides Adminitrator password when installer request.)
Problem solved. No lost time to thrash debugging.

Best regards,
Flavio M.

PS: Before install new synth models, check your system version. It should be 2.1. If you have earlier, first upgrade Fantom, then install models

I had a similar issue to Ionian. The first time I bought a Lifetime Key product, after returning from the purchase flow all of the Download and Install buttons normally in the upper right of RCM were just completely gone, and the Library showed all my purchases as still Locked. This resolved when I clicked on Account (lower left) and Log Out, then logged back in. I did not need to reinstall RCM.

Hi Flavio! I did update the Fantom as soon as I got it, so it's 2.1. I tried uninstalling and downloading again and reinstalling but it didn't work. But I appreciate the advice. Thanks!

I also tried logging out and back in and this didn't work, either. It's just frustrating since I can't find an option to reach an actual person for support. When I click "support" it just brings me to a useless search page. I can't find out how to get any help from Roland.

I posted on the Roland Cloud Manager facebook page as they seem to be active there. Hopefully someone from Roland Cloud will respond and help.

EDIT: I managed to find the contact page by scrolling down. DOH!

Thanks!

Ok. I figured it out - I never installed the Zenology thing on my computer. I have no intention of using zenology on the computer - I just wanted to download the sound packs for the fantom only but apparently you need zenology installed on your computer even to download just the sdz files for the fantom.

I installed zenology and I was able to download the sdz files for the fantom!

Of course this could have been a lot easier if instead of giving me an error 024, RCM just said, "You need to have zenology installed to download this soundpack for your fantom".

Thanks all!
