i7 and juno gi or di

I didn't try both together myself, but from what I've read about the Gi and the Di, I think that although you will get a duplication of patches, the Di is more suitable for MIDI control. However, if you don't have any MIDI controller, maybe a real MIDI Keyboard Controller is more suitable, like the A-800 Pro, for example, as with that you will get much more Control knobs and Faders to drive the I-7.
