Temporary forum problems

6 Aug 2004, 17:22
Hello!

Due to the ongoing move to a new server, the forum is very, very slow. Please be patient, I think tomorrow everything will work as it used to.

Also, the system clock if the new machine seems to work incorrectly - the GMT time is not really GMT...

Will this server move improve performance? I am still expericencing consistent page-load times of 15-20 seconds.

Phait: no, it's that my hosting provider moved to another datacenter.

tzoid: yes, the slow server problem still remains. The forum works at least 6 times slower than it used to... I will ask my provider and report back, but I believe this is temporarily.

the host would do better to run their systems on floppies :-Þ

its not the size of your kit, its what you do with it!

Maybe they started running the host on floppies, because speed is now much improved. Still not perfect, but much better. :-D

Well, now it seems like it used to be a week ago. I will call my provider anyway and ask what was the reason of such a drastic slow down, and if they are likely to repeat.
