controlling the VariOS module using the fantom

I am using Lazee boy's live switching template to create a performance, where by, i will be using some patches of the fantom x and also a few patches of the D-50 VC-1 card through my VariOS module, triggering via midi out of the fantom x to control the variOS.
I have a piano patch of the fantom set to Part 1. And i have set the MSB/LSB and program change on the external screen of Part 2 to a synth patch of the d-50 which i would be playing using the fantom as a controller. I have assigned pattern 1 to pad 1 to play the internal fantom's piano patch and pattern 2 to pad 2 to play the external d-50's patch. Now, when i press the pad 1, both the piano patch as well as the d-50 patch play together where as when i press the pad 2 then the synth patch of the external module would only play. I'm not sure if the fantom is transmitting on all channels or is the VariOS receiving on all channels even though i have set the transmitting and receiving channels on both the units to the same channel.
I would like to know how to swtich off or mute the sound of the external module when i am playing the internal sound and vice verse using the live performance template.
