Hi honeyshape.

If your network accesses the 'net through a server of some kind, then it would be able to check up on your browsing habits.

Someone with administrative rights would also be able to log on to your machine and check your browser history.

And...

Your company's internet service provider may also be able to see what your computer account is up to.

This is all very unlikely to happen unless someone suspects that you spend all day scratching your arse browsing the internet & not getting any work done.

Whilst you're at it check out DogZilla's drugs, porn & terrorism site ;-)

Thanks Dog.

Well I supose if I keep up with my work load no one will bother me.

I've also got Limewire (p2p software) I use for getting file viewers for CAD etc. ..........and sometimes other stuff (you know, britteny songs). I hope this isn't to tracable.

Thanks for you info.

Hi honeyshape.

Well, as someone who works in the computer support industry (both as an administrator and as a support person), I can tell you that, if enough effort is put into tracking someone, it is possible to track just about everything you do on a network. Short of heavily encrypting all data sent and received by your computer, there's no way to completely prevent your activities from being tracked, and even if you were to use packet-level encryption (such as IPsec combined with PPTP) it would still be remotely possible to determine where you are connected from.

Peer-to-peer programs are notorious for hogging up network resources. In a small office like yours, it's unlikely that you have a network engineer that looks for that kind of thing, but such p2p traffic is certainly noticable for someone monitoring network bandwidth usage. Your coworkers may notice an overall slowdown of their internet connection as a result of 1 person on the network using a p2p program. Applications such as KaZaA (especially KaZaA) not only report your activity to others outside your network, but quickly consume all available network bandwidth effectively bringing everyone's connection on the local network to a crawl, even if you aren't downloading something at the time yourself.

Anyway, enough geek talk.

AFAIK... you can set UL bandwidth for both kazaa and winMX so during the day while your at work you can make your UL speed look less hoglike... i think download speed can be throttled only on winMX and not kazaa
its not the size of your kit, its what you do with it!

If you go to tools in the ALT bar, and then go to internet options, you can erase your temp files and also clear your history.

Clearing your history does you no good if you don't wipe the temp files.
