Editing a sample.

Editing a sample.

8 Jul 2004, 21:40
Hi,

I was tinkering around on my FS last nite and came up with a nice riff. I did "Skip Back sampling" to capture it. It's a 16 bar pattern... like this:

"1AAA.2AAA.3AAA.4AAA".
Part 4AAA is like a turnaround (unique part) that blends back into part 1AAA.
-----
Q: So, how do I do this???
There is a mistake in 2AAA. I want to "copy" 3AAA and paste it over 2AAA to fix it. Is there another way to do this?
-----

P.S. I read the user manual in the "Sampling" section and it only mentions 'trucate' and not much else about editing samples. Elsewhere in the manual it does mention how to edit songs.

thnx,

using chop and combine

hi gitguy,

use the chop feature and add the chop points to whichever part u desire...like...if u want to cut a part, adda chop point at the start of it...

then perform the chop.

then using combine feature, which lets u combine clips, combine the required samples..

the portion which u didnt want....chop that also and delete it to save memory

wot else?? FS got a lotta power in the hood and wise sage artemio is here to give u the required help...go on keep rockin' :-)

Thanks for your reply Sam,

I'll investigate the "chop" feature more. I don't think I'd have thought of that if I hadn't asked. I guess the hard part will be setting the chop markers to the exact spots.

Of course, I could just play the riff again (without mistakes) but I wanted to know the FS (sampling) editing basics for when I have to edit larger parts, as those would be more difficult to play without mistakes (I'm a guitarist and now a newbie keyboardist).

My Fantom-S is causing a paradigm shift in my musical edit methods vs. my Tascam DAW... it's a good thing though.

You can do just that gitguy. Do it exactly as you said it. Go to the song edits and delete the second bar and copy the third bar into the space previously held by the second bar. You're done. I do it frequently.

Now if you are talking about an individual sample, you can copy the third sample and name it similar to the second sample and bam! You're all done. Just delete the errored sample.

I'm not sure if I answered the question you were asking. I may have looked at the problem too simply and gotten it all wrong. If you were asking for a step-by-step "how to" then I guess that's possible too. Just let me know. It's all pretty easy IMHO. Hope I didn't misunderstand you.

Peace.

Hi!
May you help me?
I Have a fantom S
My question is...
How can I organize the velocity of the waves?
For Ex: If I have 4 Waves C#2-FF (Play Strong), C#2-F ( Play Not to Strong), C#2-MP (Play Medium) C#2-P (Play Light). I use the "combine" and "multisample" but ,when the waves is the same note, the keybord just play the first wave.
If I to hold the note the waves are sounded one after other without I move my hand from the keyboard.
Sorry my english!
