death in the family does some weird things to how you process information
My condolences to you and your family apex. Stay strong friend. Grieving is a natural part of the process and you need time to sort things through. Been there, done that. We're standing with you to support you. :)
BTW, the ARX-01 demos that Roland produced seemed mediocre at best in my opinion. Scott Tibb's NAMM demo way back when was probably the best presentation as far as demonstrating the acoustic drum sounds on the ARX-01. But if people only went by the mediocre Roland demos they would probably be generally turned off by the ARX-01 Drum card, and indeed, may be the reason why so "few" ARX-01 cards sold universally in my opinion. Besides the sky high price Roland was asking for it as well. ;) I personally don't mind spending hundreds of dollars
if the product or product(s) are worth the cost but I simply find it hard to justify forking over $500.00 for the relatively 'few' drum kits and sounds that are on the ARX-01 card. Same way with the ARX-03 Brass card too, in my opinion, with its relatively 'few' Brass sounds. Case in point, "SRX-10" Brass had "twice" the Brass sounds - at basically 1/2 the cost. Go figure... ;)
And last but not least... ARX-02 with its relatively 'few' EP's. BTW, I'm not complaining... I'm just pointing out the "facts". ;) Roland would already have my money with both of my FG7 ARX slots "full" by now, if indeed, they provided a product or product(s) - I could believe in. Cost/Performance ratio on the ARX has really come back to bite Roland hard if you ask me. And obviously the reason why?? we ain't seen NUTTIN' in the way of ARX in
over two years probably too huh. :(
Like I said, technology is advancing so rapidly that Roland has probably "dumped" ARX in favor of Yammie's add-on Flash and/or Korg's SSD solution. Time will tell but with NO additional ARX card "in over two years" things don't look good for ARX if you ask me. Our only glimmer of hope will be to wait it out and see what Roland releases in the way of an FG successor in the hopefully not too distant future. If Roland comes through BIG TIME by releasing a workstation that will blow everything else out of the water (a tall order I must admit) then I will happily fork over my hard earned cash to them once again when the time comes. Or rather,
if that time comes. ;) lol With Roland having to play catch-up to Yammie and Korg the "proof" will be in the pudding obviously. Time will tell. My real hesitancy in purchasing Roland products in the future is the fact that Roland "left us high and dry" in the "middle" of the Fantom G life-cycle in my opinion. If that happens
again Roland may
never recover from the seeming debacle that could loom over their head(s) as a result. In other words, if they "diss" their loyal customers yet again - they may be "eating" Yammie and Korg's dust for a loooooonnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggg time. ;) People will simply "jump ship" and swim to warmer, kinder, gentler waters and to 'greener' pastures most likely. Like possibly hundreds (or thousands???) of people have already done because of Roland's preponderance of "ignoring" people. Case in point... anybody hear a 'peep' from Roland lately? I rest my case. :D
