Audio recording problem and resample fade

Audio recording problem and resample fade

5 Feb 2011, 09:07
Hi all, just decided to try producing a track totally on the Fantom - and although there is not the flexibility you have with a DAW (I use Cubase), the results are quite good. I wondered if anyone has come across this issue:
when I record audio, the original is slightly louder than its copy. If I delete the original and re insert it then the levels are fine. This is a workaround but its a pain!

Also I know there have been similar posts in the past - but the link in the 'audio fade out' search results doesn't seem to point to the solution. I would like to fade out during a resample mixdown (manually or preferably automated) - it this possible? I have tried adjusting the master level during the resample but it seems to make no difference (fades out through monitor but not on the recorded wav). Have a feeling I may need to record SysEx somehow.

I know there will be cries of 'use your DAW' but I wanted to show the band what the Fantom was capable of during rehearsal.

Thanks

Mark

Hi, sorry found the answer to the fade out question - needed to enable 'transmit edit data'.

hi unfortunately the fade out is not applied to the resample - any ideas gratefully received thanks

Hi Flumpster, thanks for the reply, I don't think that the resample reads the sysex data - so even though the track fades out during live playback - the resampled wav file has no fade. I decided to use the amp function in the end. I used sample edit to estimate when I wanted the fade to start (no preview in the amp function unfortunately), then used the amp function to set 4 points gradually amping down to 0%.

Has anyone experienced the problem with different audio levels with the same sample on the same track?

I was going to suggest using the 'amp' function, but am I missing something here, what about the mixer? Editing the sample after the fact just doesn't seem like a good solution, no preview, limited curve, destructive, etc.

hi Dbijoux, I agree I would prefer to use a non destructive method - and using the mixer would be ideal. is there a master control / fader which resample 'listens' to? I tried volume & master level but resample ignored them. i'll try again later

mhilly:

assign your sample to a sample set and use it in a song. This way you'll get a midi track and will be able to resample with fades. The 'low level' of the copied sample is solved by aplying Emphasis.

thanks for your help on the fade out - only just had chance to try it and it works great.

still bemused at how i managed to get the same sample on the same track (studio) to play at different levels - i've tried to replicate this but unable to...
