MIDI Foot Controller

Anybody have this problem? I just installed the latest OS, if that means anything to you...

I have set my MIDI foot controller to send mod wheel messages in the system menu. It worked fine, and I did a system write. But, now whenever I shut down and power up, the FS does not send any mod wheel MIDI messages when I move the pedal. Moving the pedal has no effect. If I go back into settings and change the mod wheel pedal setting to anything else and then back to mod wheel it works fine again.

Hmmm...

Hi Phil B !!!
I have the same problem on my FS. I don't understand the reason, but here is my workaround:
I set the foot switch to CC13 (or so), than I set the control function of the mod wheel in the patch to CC13 and save the patch to USER / CARD.
It works, but it would be better to need no workaround. Has anybody else a better solution???

(sorry for my terrible english)

Cool - I'll give that a shot tonight. Thanks

I guess the pain with that is you have to change it in each patch you select (i.e., you can't browse through patches and just use the foot pedal as a mod wheel automatically), right?

I think to the extent that's true and I'd need to change a setting in each patch, it's probably just easier to "reset" the foot controller setting in the system menu.

But, I'll definitely give your idea a shot. Especially when I'm using my DAW, it would be easier to be able to rely on the default boot up patch working the way I want it to.

THanks again

Phil - Latest OS? They released something beyond 1.07, or did you switch to an X?

Nope - still on the ol' S. I just installed 1.07 last week, finally. Is there a more recent OS than that?

I checked the Roland site, and 1.07 is the latest. But that came out a long time ago, didn't it? Back in January or earlier?

I've just been out of the Fantom-S loop, that's all. My friend has had my keyboard since Feb or so...but I should be getting it back this week.

Update your FS to the new OS 1.08 and the problem is gone!!!

I will be looking for a good foot switch controler. Can you guys recommend one, please. Looks like you have some experience with it,....

I like Yamaha's "FC4" damper-style footswitch the best. It works just fine with my Fantom.

I just bought one. It is made by Roland and amazingly it doesn't work with my FS. Yhat means sometimes it does sometimes not. When I turn the keyboard on it works for a few minutes then it stops responding. I have no clue why this happens. Anyone had similar experiance ?

Help with similar problem

I'm trying to vary the foot controller setting from patch to patch for live performances. Some songs I want tap delay, others volume control. I'm not exactly following the logic on this thread but it sounds like it might be the solution - could anyone elaborate?
