Pedal Settings

Pedal Settings

hey! i'm 17 years-old and recently saved up and bought a RD-700GX. i'm still learning about it every day, but I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. is there a way to make a pedal setting so that the pedal only effects, let's say, the upper half of the keyboard? i have a part in a song where i need to sustain one high note while playing a series of lower notes with both hands.

thanks!

one way to easily do these is to split the keyboard into two halves. Have both parts set to the same piano, you can then change the split point to decide from which point down to you want to stop the damper working. Then go into Zone Info, make sure you are on upper 1 and scroll across until the screen is filled with checkboxes, one of those should say DP, untick that one. You should then find the damper does not work for that particular part.

It is well worth having a play with this information, you can build some great sounds, an example would be making a string part being velocity sensitive etc.

oh wait, thats the wrong part, make sure you have lower one selected to remove the DP box. ;-)

sweet, thanks a lot man! now i just have to do my research and find out the different kind of sounds i can make by changing the tones. not going to lie... i find attack/release and all that stuff very confusing.
