Multiple performances saved with song/patterns

Re: Multiple performances saved with song/patterns

OK, so I'm getting the whole idea now...
One more thing....when I load the song (fast load method), do I need to put it in a loop mode so that every time I press the pads to trigger loading the Performance it will activate the sysex load?

Thanks

could someone post an example maybe? (a svq?)

just put the playback mode of the PADs (when doing this RPS settings) to 'ONCE'.
Not to LOOP1 or LOOP2

Jabberwocky,

I tried your method, using the PerfDumpAll.mid from the tutorial to load to track, and save it to different patterns. However, it seems that everytime I bring up the song.svq, the last Performance setting for the last pattern is always the one brought up. I turn on the RPS to switch between pads that I set up each pattern to have different Performances but it didn't switch. All patterns have a different SysEx of the current Performance at the time I save it to the song. Then I transfer the track's SysEx to the patterns, with each patterns having different Performance SysEx (as I hope it is). The RPS isn't switching the Performance, or maybe I did something wrong. Help.

Thanks

Hi Bonzai,
That load track option was suggested before MossyZombie pointed out this link what is a much faster solution. Just :

1) in songmode -> choose PTN (to go to the pattern screen) and have your first pattern selected.
2) With Microscope edit , create the System Exclusive F0 41 10 00 6B 11 10 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 6F F7
3) Then with trackedit you can copy Pattern 1 to 2, pattern 1 to 3... in example up to 16.
(maybe you can save this SVQ as a PERF DUMP REQUEST template)

(now you have the COMPLETE PERFORMANCE dump request on your patterns).

4) select a required performance (in example INTRO)
5) Go back to the SONG pattern screen, select REC on Pattern 1 and hit record -> start , and after 2 measurements stop the record.
6) With Microscope edit you can delete the SYSEX create in step 2 from this first pattern
7) Now, select a new performance (in example CHORUS1)
8) 5) Go back to the SONG pattern screen, select REC on Pattern 2 and hit record -> start, and after 2 measurements stop the record.
9) With Microscope edit you can delete the SYSEX create in step 2 from this second pattern.
10) Repeat this for all your patterns.

11) to setup RPS -> hit SHIFT + RPS. Choose the PAD1 number, and assign the required pattern number (ex PAD1 = Pattern1, PAD2=Pattern2,....) Playbackmode 'ONCE' to it... (and this for all the PADS you need).

Now, if it doesn't work out for you, can you please attach your SVQ after step 3) and after step 11) ?

I followed the directions from you but it still doesn't work.
After I deleted the SysEx from steps 6 and 9, there is no other data in the pattern. Is that right? Before I send my SVQ over, there is no data in any pattern or track. Is this correct? It still change to the last Performance set to the last pattern. RPS doesn't switch Performances.

Let me know if you still want my song.svq example.

Thanks.

Mm,

just make sure you only delete the SYSEX line what you have entered manually :-) (so , only 1 line to be deleted, the others should be your Performance info)

Can you double check your system settings -> MIDI -> Receive Exclusive should be set to ON ??

I attached an SVQ, where :
1) 16 Patterns contain the SYSEX request dump.
2) RPS setup for the 16PADS.
3) And RPS Status is auto switch on.

Otherwise, yea please attache your SVQ's here.

You're right, I didn't have my 'Receive Exclusive' turned on because I had the XP80 controlling the tempo of the Fantom-X via MIDI and I didn't want it to switch sounds, etc. on the Fantom-X so I turned everything off. So after I turned on 'Receive Exclusive' it worked. I deleted the PerfDump request and everything worked as you said.

Two more questions though... how do you set RPS status to auto switch on? That is, when the song is loaded, the RPS button is also lit. The other question is...in my XP80 I was able to change the Performance name without saving it. It stays in the buffer and then when I save it with the song it goes in with the song. The next time I load it up it will have the Performance name that I want, like 'Intro', 'Chorus', 'Solo', 'Song #1'. For the Fantom-X, you have to save the Performance name first to make it appear on the Layout/Split screen. You can't have the Performance name temporarily in the buffer. Let me know if there's a way to save the Performance name without saving it to a User or Card slot first, and then saving this name to the song. The only other way I can think of is to save the Performance with the name I want to a temporary User or Card slot, and then save this Performance to the song. If I create any new Performances I can re-use this User or Card slot to save the name before dumping the SysEx to the song to store the Performance and its name. Any ideas?

Thanks.

The song RPS on switch has a known bug in the X678, however my Xa saves this state.

For performance name change, you can do this:

F0 41 10 00 6B 12 10 00 00 00 XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX CS F7

Where XX are the 12 characters of text and CS is the automatically created checksum.

So for something like "Intro" it would be:

F0 41 10 00 6B 12 10 00 00 00 49 6E 74 72 6F 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 CS F7

If you dont know how to write in Hex you can use the Fantom-X editor software as a starting point, just type a name change for performance and it will display the SysEx in the "Midi message" bar. So use the editor itself to change the name or use the SysEx that it displays if your Fantom is not connected.

best regards
M.Z

Thanks for the performance name change information. It worked.
Now if only the RPS button to stay on....

Jabber, perhaps you want to add your detailed instruction to the Fantom-X Tips and Tricks thread. I think this is a great RPS trick.

OK, I'll take a look at the RPS batchfile method later when I get home. Too bad there's no SysEx line that we can change on-the-fly at the microedit level? I just have a few .SVQ files building up right now and I don't mind changing them before the .SVQ library builds up.

Another question...I also noticed the Rhythm and Arpeggio buttons don't maintain its status either. Anyone know how to fix this, or add this into the SysEx?

Thanks.

Hi Bonzai,

just open the FantomX editor on your PC (connection of your fantom is not required).

Then on the top you can swith on/off the rhythm, chord memory, arpeggio ... you'll find the correspondig SYSEX in the midi message.
