Hi Shakil,

no you can't :-(((, they forgot to implement it also they forgot to have this very powerfull RPS on keys for the G(XP80 and FantomX had it, althoug the X lacked already the status save). Maybe Yamaha took a patent on these ?? , but let's wait and wait and wait, for the next OS.

The feature is in fact in Fantom-G. You can create songs with different time signatures, in fact multiple time signature changes within the same song. I did a YouTube video on how to work with odd time signatures. You can watch the video here:

Hi Dan,

Please don't get me wrong here ; but ... to my understanding 'No the FantomG can not do this'.

Your (btw excellent) youtube movie is in song mode, the questions was about phrase mode ? , (this is usefull for assigning these Phrases to PADS)

So, as soon as you edit an 7/8 phrase (1 measurement, which was recorded in song mode) with the microedit the FantomG makes it a 4/4.

If I'm wrong, can you please consider a youtube movie how to assign a single 7/8 measurement to the PADS ?

Hey Dan,
Great video. I appreciate all of the work, and your devotion to excellence. It truly shows.
I have a question about the odd time signature situation. I understand that all phrases are in 4/4, and that Roland is possibly working on a fix for this, but here is my problem. I have 2 questions... When I want to edit a portion of my phrase (let's say quanttize measures 65-66) in a 3/4 song, how do I figure out where to look for those measures in the phrase. Measures 65,66 actually end up as measures 48-50 in the phrase. Is there some way to mark that portion in the song that is represented in the phrase? As it is, I have to listen to the phrase to find it.
The second question is.. This song that I just mentioned is in 3/4. I wanted to quantize my drums as a straight 16th feel, but in measures 65,66 I want to quantize as triplets for just those two measures. In the phrase edit mode, I end up quantizing more than those two measures (or less than) because the phrase is in 4/4, so I either have portions of the phrase quantized that was not intended, or not enough, because the quantize actually needs to go for 1 and 1/2 measures in 4/4, or 2 measure in 3/4.
I hope I have explained this well. I realize that I can microscope individual notes, but this can get tedious.

Thanks again for all your help.

Guys, guys, just to get things right:

I think everybody here knows that the Fantom-G can RECORD and/or QUANTIZE ON THE FLY phrases with odd time signatures. It can even record phrases that include more than one time signatures. We all saw this on Dan's YouTube video.

But what the Fantom-G can't do (I hope this is only for now and we have a solution soon) is EDIT and/or QUANTIZE AFTER RECORDING phrases with odd time signatures.
