RPS thoughts--Best live G setup configurations?
9 Nov 2008, 16:38I am anew owner of the G. I love it. I had a friend ask an initial question, and have now spent my afternoon reading the posts on the board that looked to be relevant to our issues (also read a lot of oter ones and got great ideas)! My question is for the guys playing live with the board. We are a trip and do all our own recording in my studio. I want to take this thing to a gig and have the sounds ready and easily triggered in groups for each song. I also want to bring in a click outputted to my drummer (already read how to do that--thanks) and leave on tracks that we can't cover. Not sure if live mode or favorites would be best, also not against using studio mode as I am very comftorable in that setting. The main issue has been how to access multiple sounds with the press of a button. For example, I begin with an organ for the whole board on channel 1 in live mode, then need to switch to the next 5 sounds at once (bass on bottom with four solo synths stacked), then change immediately to a piano on track 7, finally going to a string set on channel 8. I will have to go back to some of the precious sounds. I need to do this in basically every song, eventually pulling in the click and other samples. It seems RPS is going to be involved and maybe the answer to the multi-sound switching, hopefully the fact that it is only on the pads and no longer on the keys will not hurt me too bad. I am weak in the midi field so hopefully the RPS will not be too confuding, the manual seems to only apply it to phrase playing and not sound controls. I downloaded the RPS app listed earlier in the posts that helps you assign things, I am just waiting to install until I have some more knowledge on the subject. SO...basically...
1. What is the best way or mode to use for my live setup?
2. How do I change multiple sounds at once? And, if the answer is RPS, can you explain a little more?
I have done my homework and just need a little push I think, I am dying to put this thing out on the live stage. any help is greatly appreciated. Rock on!
