Boss FV-500L expression pedal does not work with Fantom G

Boss FV-500L expression pedal does not work with Fantom G

25 Oct 2008, 22:13
I bought last week a Fantom G8 with a Boss FV-500L expression pedal.

I connect the pedal to ctrl-1 input and I assign c11 (expression), Panel Swith assigned to ARP-SW (by default it cannot be changed) and standard polarity.

It does not work. Can anyone help me please?.

CC11 is just a command. Unless it's routed to something audible by default, you won't hear any changes, unlike CC07 (routed to volume by default) or CC10 (routed to pan by default).

Does the FV have a knob on it? If so, make sure it's turned all the way down.

I have tried with CC07 and it does not work.

I don't know if I am doing it well.

1) I have volume on fantom at medium level.

2) I connect the pedal to ctrl-1 with the pedal up and knob of the pedal at minimum always

3) Then I press the pedal down and turn the volume of fantom at full

4) I put the pedal up again.

5) Do I have to do anything more?. Now I can't hear anything on Fantom. I push F3 Part Edit and I see the volume level 0%. I have to disconnect the pedal again to hear it.

I have tried with the FV-500L and my VSYNTH GT and I have the same problem.

Connecting the DP-10 damper pedal it works perfectly although from silence to maximum volume.

I have not tried the FV-500L as an expression pedal, but prefer to use it as a stereo volume pedal with the audio in/out plugs. In a live situation, there is no question that you will be adjusting the volume in that mode.

I have received the confirmation today from Roland saying FV-500L IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH FANTOM G.

So I have to return the pedal and change it by the EV-5 that is compatible.

I have changed the pedal and I confirm EV-5 works perfectly as volume and expression pedal.

I have checked my FV 500L with FAN G&X, V-Synth GT and GW-8 and it works. No problems.

I have one and it works just fine as a stereo volume pedal on my Fantom G and Roland Amp. My Sales person at Guitar Center confirmed this prior to purchase.

OP, Are you using a stereo cable to connect?

I have a Fantom G7 and a Boss FV-500L Pedal and they work fine. I use the FV-500L as a expression pedal. You need a stereo cable.

"Panel Swith assigned to ARP-SW (by default it cannot be changed) and standard polarity."

This can be changed. Just turn the DIAL to the end and You will be able to change this option.

Will an FC-300 work? Any idea if it can choose indiviual sounds in the Live Mose?
