are YOU interested in a sound database website

I'm thinking of creating a new website. What would you think about it?

Let's call it PatchBay

After you registered you can up- and download patches, performances, live modes etc. (of course no official copies allowed). All per synth, song etc. The database could contain something like:

- synth name
- synth type
- patch name
- category
- sub category
- notes
- reference artist - song
- mp3 download
- patch download

So you can search for a song, let's say Toto - Hold the Line or per category. You can preview in MP3-format.

Are you interested?

I'd be interested in a legal patch sharing site.

I'm assuming that by "reference artist - song" you mean "this synth sound is a bit like the one in the solo from this track by this artist", rather than MP3s of copyright tracks?

Just checking :o)

Yes, that's what I mean by reference artist - song

I think there are many people like myself playing in a band. When the band decides we'll play Toto - Hold The Line, they don't notice it's costing me more time to create the sound than to learn the music. And then after one rehearsel we decide that we'll stop playing it ;)

I think it would be great if I could download the patch refering to; Hold the Line in the Roland - Fantom FG database. Of course I want to hear the MP3 first.

SH1000 , sounds great!

Few days ago, I thought that it would be wonderful if there would be a web site with tweaked patches.

Something like this: Someone made a good tweak for piano patch, created some decent FG piano, and want to share it with the world. :)

My FG7 will arrive in a month. I would be more than happy to share my future tweaks.

Great idea!

I am not interested. I am a cruel dictator which wants all other Roland community sites to vanish.

I am interested, kinda, but I think it should be something like sonicstate.com or similar who makes it (Or Roland?). Someone big and best thing for it would be to include all synths ever made and it should be a really well made database with tagging systems and wonderful search functions, or else it will fail, like so many other smaller communities fail when the first attraction to it fades.

I am interested. I think it would be beneficial to the community and always aids in learning different programming ideas.
