I've not tried this, but you can Register a SNG file as one of the locations in a Live Setup, so you should be able to register a SNG that addresses an external unit, even if only to select the correct Patch (or other settings) on that instrument.
Give it a try & let us know.
BTW: Is is possible to set Live Play Mode to auto-play the SNG file when it is selected? In Live use, when the SNG file only selects sounds etc on external modules, it would be ace if it would auto-play to set up all your sounds correctly. I've never found a way to do this yet.
