find something weird, and screw it up as much as possible, then play it like a robot. push it to the very brink of listenability, then back it off just the tiniest bit.
the more the sounds stand out (apart from the crowd), the more memorable the listening experience it will be.
also remember that although drugs don't actually help the musician much, no matter what style you're playing, a huge portion of the audience will be whacked out on something (licit or illicit). therefore, it's vitally important to be as weird as possible.
