then Roland said it is so cool let's make juno-g from it
by shrinking and painting in black...

Some time later - oh, it is still so cool, let's make fantom G
from it adding mouse and stretching the screen...

:))))

I am suspicious...until I hear the Fantom G mp3's.

We all know how fantastic the X sounds...let's make no mistake I trialled lots of synths even buying a few and spending months with them then selling them on Ebay before finally settling on the X for the sheer quality of sound.

So...how can the G sound that much better...I think some people are kidding themselves...it uses alot of the SRX samples for heavens sake.

As an all in one package maybe it is attractive...maybe they should have fixed the X's software bugs instead ;)

>>>maybe they should have fixed the X's software bugs instead

and thats what they did probably, but they couldn't charge that much for just next software patch so they change few cosmetic things and the name :)))

And I thought I was the only cynic around here
its must be finally catching.. ;)

Lets break it down..
What make an X a G

1) New DACs

2) Usb 2.0 connectivity/storage

3) Usb audio

4) Larger screen

5) Enhanced software

6) Mouse

7) Dedicated PFX per track/patch

8) 128 track sequencer

9) Work flow

10) No multi sampling

So its not quite as simple as Once upon a time (Although I share the sentiment)

MV-8800 & Fantom-G

I have been seeing "difference" specs of the X and G. Seems to me components and features from the MV, mixed with X and you get the G? Well if this is the case, there is a very nice String "patch" on the MV-8800 that I hope is on the G also? To me the MV has a more "crisp" sound than the FX, I hear more "shimmer & sheen" on the top end. This is just my opinion.
