HOW TO: Note ON > Sustained to Note OFF > Released???

HI all!

Wondering if anyone here has an idea on how to trigger a note, have it sustain - at full volume - until hitting the note again to turn it off.

APPLICATION ===>
I'm in a cover band and trying to pull together a version of "We Are Family (Sister Sledge)" without using a sequencer, so I am playing everything (keyboard-wise) live, well sort of... I want to strike a high "A" that will sustain and keep sounding until I turn it off, all the while playing the main piano part, so this High "A" that I play will have to be unaffected by the sustain pedal as well.

I thought about maybe using RPS and putting together a pattern using the longest available time signature/note combination, but there has got to be an easier way.

Any Ideas?

Hi,

One way to solve it is:

Sample the Note.
Assign it to the pads and use the HOLD funktion.

..another will be:

Make two layers with the same sound. Split the keyboard and have one of the layers to sustain.

Thanks Krokodilen...

I ended up using the skip back sampling option to capture the single note I wanted to sustain, used a 2 second loop that I assigned to a PAD. Then, rather than using the HOLD feature, I used the D-Beam to trigger the PAD in Latch mode - a wave of the hand turns the sound ON, another wave of the hand turns it OFF...

Amazing what you learn when you RTFM!

Thanks again!

Rick
