If the connection is not happening within the Fantom and the computer, how can the sounds be affected? Are you sure you're not hearing a general midi sound either then the keyboards sounds?

Just copy your card contents to an empty folder in your computer, and then after formating your target card on the Fantom Xr , drag and drop the two folders Roland and TMP; it will ask if you want to overwrite, say yes....
