On Juno-Di you can only play samples via Song player. You can't use them as part of patches or favorites. But you can start them with "play/stop" button and you will be able to see names on display.

you don't need midi cable, just use standard USB cable and set in your DAW JunoDi Midi in/JunoDi Midi out

It's a full synth but you can only edit patches/performances via editor. You can not load your waveforms, but there are many ways to tweak them, and also juno di is basicly 4OSC synth :-)
