what is your "personal" opinion on the ULTIMATE GRAND patch on the Fantom X series?

i use it quite a lot on my gigs, even though i have the SRX-11!

I haven't heard the SRX-11 myself, but the comments I'm hearing aren't positive. Basically we don't even know what kind of piano it is nor it's length although I suspect it's less than 7 feet if its the same piano as the Ultimate. And we're not even sure who actually developed it although someone interpreted a brochure as indicating it was a studio engineer named Dan Blessinger but, he isn't available to talk to.

Having got that out of the way, basically what we got is: the piano wasn't designed, sampled or assembled correctly. For loud play it should be okay. The problems arise from the hodge-podge EQ'ing of the layers which prevents any smooth velocity shifts even tho it has 4 layers. Other problems center around smooth expression, soft play, a middle octave problem and the basic sound.

Other than that it's great! Hey, send me an email and tell me what's goin on.

Sorry william, i can't understand your point of view -
what does it matter for you which kind of piano was
used to sample the sound or who has did the work ?
Just hear and have a try playing it, if you like - good,
if not, find another patch.
Besides, you can't just obtain a real piano from a synth -
you can come closely to an idea of it, but if you're looking
for a real piano then go for a steinway, no other way to
get it, IMHO.

will have more info and if you care to have a listen to a piano that is better than its real counterpart when recorded. You're comment on not getting a real piano from a synth is well taken... but you're thinking has been affected by the industry's insistence on presenting mediocre and poor quality pianos. As I said in an earlier post, this has affected artist perceptions to the point where they've given up... expressed in exactly the words you used... "you just can't obtain a real piano from a synth..." That isn't true but I understand your statement. Check out the demos and have a listen to a world class instrument you can have at your fingertips.

Send us a GOOD sample for FREE, so we can hear whats better....The SRX11 or your sampels.....

If "money is the thing..." then please, please don't buy my piano. If you ever decide that you want quality, inspiration and to be able to print a world class piano directly to a CD then $349 will be a bargain price for you to pay. Pianos of this quality are found only among the elite artists who can afford to commission their development. When you're ready to level the playing field and leverage your work into a release that sounds as good as the best out there ...I'll be hearing from you.

Secondly, if the "money thing" is drowning out your ability to hear the soul of this piano in the demos... then please please don't buy it.

I hope that the apparent skeptisizm that you encounter doesnt bother you too much... we have quite a range of Fantom users, some, that do not quite understand the demands and cost of quality.

I have just recently started out similarly to you to provide a good quality Hammond B3 emulation. It is a labor of love for my own personal enjoyment but after hundreds of hours working on it, I understand that your price is quite fair
$349 seems like a really good deal for premium patches.

I beleive as you do that quantity does not equal quality. I am curious, is your piano multi layered, how many megs is it, and is there one set of samples that are incorporated in all the patches or multiple sets of samples?
