Expression on the VTW Organ mimics the behavior of a swell pedal, and it still produces sound even when the pedal is at minimum position. The FANTOM Version 2.50 Supplementary Manual goes into a bit more detail.

What do you mean by messes with the mix? It is possible to disable the (volume) pedal for all other zones (in the zone pedal options), so that the pedal only changes the volume of zone 2.

Thanks for the reply. I want a scene to have a piano, VTW and strings. I want to be able to fade the VTW and strings with the pedal, but maintain the mix (eg VTW max volume 100, strings max volume 120). EXPRESSION does this but does not fade VTW to zero. VOLUME fades VTW to zero but changes max volumes of VTW and strings to 128 when depressed.

Workaround: Store an organ patch with a 20% lower level, so that the strings and organ are correctly mixed when they are used within a scene with the same volume. There are a number of ways to adjust the level of a VTW organ tone. For example, there is a level in the COMMON section (in PRO mode).
