what is the diffence between portamento note and portamento time

hi, on many keyboards including my fantom 06 you get a choice in portamento mode of "note" or "pitch" can some one please tell me what the difference is and how it effects the portamento effect. cheers.

The parameter guide contains a good description of Portamento Start. Note that it only makes a difference if the portamento time is long, more specifically, if the target pitch of the second note is not reached before playing the third note.

ok xp30, thanx for your post, from what i understand i think i would prefer pitch setting as apposed to note. so will adjust all my solo sounds to pitch if i havnt done so already. as i think pitch would suit my style of playing. so thanx again for your very welcome help. cheers.

hi xp30, also i set my portamento to time not rate which is the mode i feel most appropiate to my style and would guess also more appropiate to use pitch instead of note as well. cheers and thanx for clearing it all up for me
