Fantom 0 1.02 bugs?

Fantom 0 1.02 bugs?

I got the Fantom 07 and I have been experiencing some issues with mine since the firmware was updated.

Has anyone had these two problems with theirs?

1. The touch screen would not function properly when you selected parts. It would open up something totally different that you know you did not select, like a different part of the screen. I had to factory reset this and it seems to work normally for now. However... I experienced problem 2 that just happened today...

2. The auto timer is set to 240 minutes off, but the keyboard was on much less than that and it suddenly cycled to the startup screen and hung up there! I guess when it went to screen saver mode, it crashed the keyboard. Previously to my factory reset, I did not experience this.

I had the same issue but with any OS (1, 1.01 or 1.02). The main board is flawed and you should take it to your dealer to have them replace it for another board or another Unit. I've just picked my unit that had the main board changed for a new one and now it's working without crashing.

On the other hand, I have an issue with loading the expansions. I'm always getting the "Incorrect File!" message. I've done everything as the knowledge base page says. I've loaded the correct EXZ file with the PNG file to the usb drive, then I've turned on the unit pressing the tempo button-> pressed the install, select the expansion file and finally hit the install button to load it and that's when I get the Incorrect File message. I have also checked that my Roland Cloud is up to date, I've checked that the EXZ files are from the Fantom-0 sections and not the Fantom section. My Flash Drive was formatted with the Fantom-0. My fantom Unit has the last OS 1.02 update... Has anyone else experienced this problem?

That's a very interesting problem. I'll be on the lookout for this.

This is a very stressful thing to experience for what we paid for. I had to wait about two months for a replacement Fantom-07! It was said by the dealer Roland had a "supply chain issue" and couldn't keep with the demand of having more. However, I got my Yamaha MODX6 the month it got the wide released - October. I doubt there is even a supply chain issue at Roland. In fact, they announced a new synth after releasing the Fantom-0 series - the Juno X. If there was a supply chain issue, then I believe they wouldn't be announcing other products until they can confidently keep demand of everything else. Another thing - no press releases have been made to anyone regarding supply issues to the general potential buyers nor to their stakeholders.

I also want to add based on what we said here on our problems, I believe there was a production/build quality problem going on and they wanted to work out the reliability based on returns. Roland will never tell us directly the return number nor their findings/complaints because that's internal company business, but this looks like the case. What we experienced are without question critical operational issues.

On that note, I just got my replacement Fantom-07 today and I have left it on for hours since I got it yesterday. By around a few short hours for now it will be 24 hours - which I think passed the stress test. The OS was upgraded to 1.02 and I also did a factory reset before I started my test. So far so good. I can't wait to make more music on it.

I just installed a pack. I was able to go in the library section and find Fantom-0 specific versions there (which was a little weird to me that they have different versions for the other "zen-core" keyboards while I thought zen-core was universal.) So far, I tried it with that EXZ003_EXZ Session Drums one. No problems here.

It happened to me what I did was re-download the roland cloud expansion again

I still get the "Incorrect File!" message. I've tried everything Roland Support asked me to try. Even using like 10 different USB Drives. Downloading several times the Expansion files. They asked me to send them the file(s) I was using for them to check and the reply was that the files were the right ones. They told me to take it again for service... what a nightmare. At least my unit us working fine except for that problem. What have you done Roland, your supply chain and quality control seems to be getting worse or you tried to cut too many costs and this is the result. I don't know how many people are getting the "Incorrect File" error but having two problems with a board is not very promising for the Fantom-0 model.

I have been facing the same issue, i bought the FANTOM 06 a month ago and did the firmware upgrade. However i just now got to know, if you had previously installed any other expansion pack, then Uninstall them. After that try to install them freshly downloaded from Roland cloud manager. I am gonna try this tonight! Hope it works.
