Does anyone know if the Fantom-0 series come with new preset scenes, grooves and songs, compared to the big Fantom?

Hi DNGmaestro,
According to the soundlists of the two boards, the differences are as follows, from the Fantom-0's point of view:

Scenes: 128 Scenes x 4 Banks
- Scenes are the same on Banks A027-A128, B001-B128, C001-C016, C028-C128 and D001-D128 (so the vast majority) [CORRECTION]
- Fantom-0 has new (different) scenes between A001-A016
- Fantom-0 has 5 Demo songs instead of 3 on the Fantom (A009-A013)
- Fantom-0 Scenes C017-C027 appear as A017-A027 on the Fantom

Zen Core Tones: PR-A 0001-0239, PR-B 0001-0459, PR-C 0001-0128, PR-D 0001-1109, PR-E 0001-0896, CMN 0001-0837 are all the same on both boards
Drum Kit Tones: PR-A 0001-0074 are all the same on both boards

VTW (Virtual Tone Wheel) Organ Tones: PRST 1-25 now also exists on the Fantom - implemented by Update 2.50

SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano 1 (EXSN01): EXSN01 1-10 Now also can be used on the Fantom but needs to be downloaded from Roland Cloud - implemented by update v1.60

SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano 2 (EXSN03): EXSN03 1-20 Now also can be used on the Fantom but needs to be downloaded from Roland Cloud - implemented by update v1.60 [CORRECTION]

SuperNATURAL Electric Piano 1 (EXSN02): EXSN02 1-36 Now also can be used on theFantom but needs to be downloaded from Roland Cloud - implemented by update v1.60

V-Piano Tone: PRST 1-17 Does not exist on the Fantom-0

EXZ Expansion Tones (From Axial website): Up to 16 Sounds can be downloaded for free from the Roland Cloud.[CORRECTION]

MODEL Tones (need to be downloaded from the Roland Cloud): EXM001 (Jupiter-8), EXM002 (JUNO-106), EXM003 (JX-8P) and EXM004 (SH-101) - free for the Fantom[/i] - implemented by the update v2.10.

NOTE1: Despite being supported on the Fantom-0, these tones are not free and need to be purchased from the Roland Cloud via the Roland Cloud manager

NOTE2: n/zyme (wavetable) Tones now added to Model Tones on the Fantom- implemented by update v3.00

SuperNATURAL Acoustic Tone (SN-A): PRST 0001-0070 are all the same on both boards - now also available on the Fantom -implemented by the update v1.50

Preset SN-A Inst List: 001-025 are all the same on both boards - now also available on the Fantom -implemented by the update v 1.50

Preset Drum Kit Inst List: Inst Groups A 000-710 and B 000-225 are all the same on both boards

Waveform List: Waveform Banks A1-963, B 1-257, C 1-620 and D 1-268 are all the same on both boards

In summary:
Despite a different (a lot lighter) hardware, less Inputs/Outputs, no internal Power supply, no Aftertouch keyboard, a simpler panel layout (less dedicated buttons for the Synth section), less Sampling capability (less Memory available), smaller (but more pixels) Display, few different Scenes (A0001-A016), not having V-Piano engine and not having free EXZ and MODEL Expansions, No Analog Filter nor Overdrive applicable to Input audio Signals, Only supporting 8 Zones with Tone Remain / Seamless transitions, the Fantom-0 is very much alike the original fantom in terms of functionality!

Here you have it.

If this is true, Fantom-0 has less 239 Scenes when compared to the Fantom. However, the Fantom-0 Reference Manual on P.188 clearly states that the Fantom-0 has 128 Scenes x 4 Banks, which means that the Soundlist manual seems to be incomplete.

Could it have empty scenes (101 in C and 128 in D) at your disposal after the ones listed ...?

From the Sound List manual...

I don't believe this is quite correct. I'm pretty sure that the exz expansions are available for free for Fantom-0 from the Roland Cloud manager. I think Brian from Roland confirmed this in another thread.

One other minor correction: SuperNatural Acoustic Piano 2 (EXSN03) is available as a free download for the Fantom via Roland Cloud.

Again, this is due to incorrect text on the Fantom version 1.60 Supplementary Manual, as they refer to EXSN01 only, for the Acoustic Piano and they don't refer to EXSN03 anywhere.

I've updated my original post accordingly...

Paulinho, i didn't even reply to this. What a brilliant, direct and helpful post.
Thank you very much for your kindness and attention!

I have my eyes on the big Fantom. However i was playing on the Fantom-0 and i was surprised. It feels and looks very good! Also sounds amazing but that goes without saying. The smaller size is also great! But the V-Piano, the 4 free synth expansions, the extra memory for samples and expansions, extra midi port (i want to control other stuff through it), aftertouch, still leave me wanting the big one. But i'm tempted for the smaller!!

I had my eyes on the big Fantom as well, but the price difference made me refrain. And besides that, for what I'm currently doing, the Fantom-0 is much more that I expected in terms of functionality! Very happy with it.
