V 3.00 ... Sequencer

V 3.00 ... Sequencer

21 Jan 2022, 16:33
Hi everybody,
I just update my Fantom 8 with v. 3.0 ...
About the sequencer ...
Longer patterns: just good
More time signatures: it could be good if we could insert different time signatures in a song, like Group A: 4/4 and Group B: 3/4 etc but ...
And still no Tempo track ...

I work with a sequence on board, no, I thought I could work with a COMPLETE sequencer on board with a keyboard of 6 000 $ (Canada).
Disappointments again, 2 1/2 years later.
Many other things have been said, useless to say again I suppose

Yep, dissapointed too.
Right now i feel like roland have had my pants down after forking out £2800 uk for a hardware version of a cloud synth.
Constant releases of old synth rehashes with sounds that actually dont sound that different from each other..
Great synth yes.. but it was sold to me as a fully fledged workstation.clearly not and now many are stating its only a synth... What a load of tosh. The hardware it more than powerfull enough to accomodate a proper sequencer.. i dont want to use my fekkin daw thank you.
And give up with the daw control options, its a no winner.
So far i have only found nektar produce proper keyboard controllers that offer deep control for many daw platforms.
Rant over i guess

my sequencer with the venerable MOTIF does all of the things you mentioned and more....Being one of the stalwarts out there who still feel comfortable starting each song with the master keyboard's sequencer, this is my number one issue as to whether I would switch my master keyboard and the Fantom still doesn't come close to what I am used to....

meanwhile, since I have the Integra module, I have all of the roland sounds I could possibly want anyway.....

the most amazing thing is that Roland had a tremendously powerful sequencer in the Fantom G. Everything that we complained about the new fantom, was solved in the G.

All true about the G but Roland abandoned support for it way too soon. Sure it had better sequencer features than Fantom but resolution was too course to duplicate exact timing as inputted with quantize turned off. Also the GUI was substandard compared to the Fantom. Hopefully Roland will revisit the Fantom sequencer once they understand word of mouth is affecting sales.

I never had the 'G' but hoped that it would be reborn someday... Then the fantom came! Seriously thinking of returning mine! Too many similar sounds, editing them is very odd due to panel controls not affecting sounds the way I expect, and that sequencer! I always disliked working with pattern sequencers, on something like a groove box, fine, but the fantom isn't a groove ox, or is it? Seems it has all the same qualities!
