It all depends on what you mean by "initial". If you want to clean up the sequencer then just erase all the tracks via shift+erase combination. If you're after initial tone of a digital section then go to FX and scroll it down to 256.Initial. Otherwise you can just save a "virgin" program to any user slot you like.

There is no Initialization function on Xi. The only way is select a blank patern and work with it.

Many thanks for the answers. It is a bummer that there is no reset button, but limitations only boost the creativity.

COMMENTARY:
Shift+Erase ('sysEx' or 'All'), Enter+Erase etc. does not delete certain sections (eg. sound volume of each synth, general settings) and some knob movements (sound selection knob, effects knob).

The BEST WAY is to create your personal INITIAL PATTERN (eg. H64) which you copy ('All') to selected pattern slot, then you do the Shift+Erase All scheme and voila. (Shift+Erase All resets the pattern length). Of course, you should remember not to overwrite your personal INITIAL PATTERN.

KEEP IT IN MIND: The sound volume settings and general Pattern Settings do not reset or copy. You have to tweak them individually per pattern.
