Is Roland releasing another Boutique?
Is it a controller or a different kind of instrument?
Is it for real???

The interesting thing for me here, is that Roland have been willing / able to put an LCD in the now familiar Boutique form-factor.

Maybe this 'could' suggest that some classic synths which relied on displays for editing ( e.g. JX-8P, D-50, Alpha Juno 1/2 etc ) might make a return via the Boutique route, 'slidered-up' for easy hands-on editing ??!!

Pure speculation of course but this is an interesting development, especially if prices of anything new remains consistent with the first 3 Boutiques.

Take your pick (!) http://www.rolandus.com/blog/2014/02/19/roland-synth-chronicle-1973-through-2013/

Cheers.

I like the looks, but it isn't very interesting for me.
The CV/GATE out can be handy with a System-500, but for me the Waldorf KB37 is much more appealing.

I guess when the price is right the combination of Midi controller CV/Gate out and bluetooth make it a nice controller for some people, but for me it doesn't do anything I can't do in my studio on the moment.

I missed David Ahlund on the NAMM.
I'm not particular fan of his music, but he knows how to show the potential of the Aira stuff and has a lot of knowledge about these instruments.
