I can't get my Integra to stay at 96K smple rate

I can't get my Integra to stay at 96K smple rate

I am having a strange problem. I have my Integra hooked up via 6 analog outs into my Lynx sound card. I am also using the V2 editor flawlessly with Cubase. No matter what I try, when I load Cubase and the studio set automatically loads from the editor, the Integra switched back to 44.1. I have written the system many times. I have set it to 96K while the editor is open then save my Cubase startup template project. No matter what I try, once Cubase loads the editor again it makes the Integra go back to 44.1. It's strange, because simply saving Cubase will retain all other settings (like sounds for each song) and cause them to load when the Cubase project loads. What am I missing? I can't find a setting on the editor to change the sample rate so while cubase is open i change the rate on the box itself, write the system then save cubase (which saves a studio set in the editor which then fires into the Integra every time you open cubase) Are the system sound settings included in a stedio set?

Thanks.

Hello,

It seems to me simply Cubase is conflicting with the Integra-7. If you change the sample rate on the Integra-7 once it's hooked up to a computer via midi, you have to restart the module so that the new sample rate is set properly, as stated in the manual, so and Cubase (see manual) also have a set of rule for that etc. : if you apply the settings regardless of how they work and at the same time, no surprise it doesn't work as you would think it should.

So I'd say you open your computer and set Cubase to 96kHz prior to turning the Integra-7 on or hooking it up, then you close Cubase, after what you set the module to 96kHz and hook it up via midi. Once you reopen Cubase it should be set accordingly to the Integra, and if it still doesn't, see the documentation for Cubase more precisely.

But keep in mind your computer might not be fast enough to play all your projects at 96kHz with acceptable latency, so if you have to switch sample rates all the time it's a pure loss of time. I'd suggest you determine the max sample rate your computer can handle, and set the other devices once for all. Don't worry, 44.1 is already perfect for most of the usage.

Thanks for the reply. Oh, my computer is fast enough. I have a customer built 6 core i7 rack-mount PC with 16GB of RAM. I can run 96K at 64 buffer and have for about 2 years.

Cubase really has nothing to do with it directly and the Integra 7 has no way to know what the Cubase sample rate is anyway. It's the V2 editor that is initializing the Integra with MIDI somehow when I open Cubase as it should. That's what the editor is all about. You don't have to touch the Integra for any project you load, it happens automatically. This is great except it's overwriting my 96K setting. I am not using the USB audio, just MIDI.

Here are the things i've tried:

With Cubase not open:
- set sample rate to 96K
- it tell you to uplug the USB and pkug it back in, which i do
- I write the system
- restart Integra, still at 96K - perfect
- now, if i open cubase as soon as the editor opens it send message to Integra and it goes back to 44.1

Now, with computer involved:
- Open Cubase (causes Integra to go to 44.1)
- Change it back to 96K
- Uplug and replug USB as requested by Integra screen
- Unit shows 96K
- SAVE Cubase project (which save all settings in editor, successfully every other time like reverb setting and patches)
- Close and reopen Cubase project
- Editor sends automatic MIDI setup to Integra and the Integra goes back to 44.1
- SAVE cubase project

OK so I'm not a Cubase user any more for a decade maybe now but I can recall the sample rate is not attached to the project file, but to the template or generic project file, which is another setting you should look for. Someone more familiar with Cubase could confirm that, and you should as well ask about that on a Cubase forum because it's a rather basic feature in any sequencer and you should find many people able to answer to your question.

lol - sorry but you aren't getting it dude. Thanks for the replies so far but Cubase has NOTHING to to with the sample rate on the the Integra.

Again, once the V2 editor loads it's set into the Integra when I open my Cubase startup template, that's when the sample rate changes. That's what I need to know about. How do I change this!?!?!?!?

Do you use OS 1.20 on Integra? ("INTEGRA-7 Editor Ver.2 for Windows is available with INTEGRA-7 Ver.1.20 or later.")

Ok, I figured it out.

First, you have to keep in mind that every time the editor VST loads in Cubase it send all of the midi data to the Integra to change the studio set to the parameters listed in the editor. This is awesome because you don't even have to save studio sets in the itegra itself. The editor just loads the proper SS that goes with your song into the Integra when you open a project with that plugin inserted. So, all of your shit is saved Cubase without using up any SS slots - great. The correct shit always loads when you open that cubase project.

The problem is that certain things are not listed on the editor, sample rate being one of them. What you have to do:

Open Cubase, the editor loads which also changes the Integra studio set. Now, you have to physically go to the Integra and change the sample rate. Now, press READ on the editor. It will read that 96K setting. Now, save your Cubase project. Now, that 96K setting is saved along with the editor's setting.
