and I am shocked how good that thing sounds right now! way better then NX and not sure
if not better even then V-Piano. Cannot decided yet, both are great sounding engines.
But I'm telling you that RD GX Kit is not worthy, same price 99$ and I get pianoteq play which
I can take with me anywhere.

I respect that your ear prefers Pianoteq over the SuperNATURAL upgrade kit and the NX but remember that the keybed on the NX is not the same as the GX. I considered the same setup as yours but decided against it as I wanted the PHA III keyboard, not the PHA II which is on the GX. And there is something to be said about the immediacy of an hardware solution for some settings such as when playing piano gigs.

I know that and I played NX and V-Piano with same keybed and I have to say it's hardly noticeable under fingers
(if at all) making it not worthy the switch. The difference maybe as little as difference between some acoustic pianos keybed.

It feels fairly similar when just pressing down on a note but there is aparently a third sensor in the keybed that allows for faster re-triggers of a key. I agree however that it may not be worth the switch for the keybed alone if you already have a GX. There are a number of other reasons why I chose the NX but I dont want to turn this into an NX versus GX thread but since you referenced the NX I thought I would point out the keybed issue.

Nice! I want to try that too some day for my FG8. Are you running stand alone or hosting on a daw?

If hosting on a daw do you get any clicks or pops at say 5-6ms latency ? :)

I bought the pianoteq 'player' or whatever 99 euro version. :)

It sounds good in the middle and upper registers but the low register sounds like a rubberband guitar or something. LOL. I like the dynamics and all sorts of personalized settings I can do. I am running off of my mbp with 2.3GHz ( I think, either 2.2 or 2.3G) i5 with 8G RAM. Still getting clicks even at 7.3sec latency.

I am also a VPiano owner. I don't think their piano is at VPiano level as far as sound. I will play with it more to rid the clicks. It might be something to do with the damper pedal and keyoff noise emulation.

I use both way stanalone and in DAW and no problems or clicks.
Maybe you're using crappy midi interface? I use V-STudio 100
for both audio and midi interfacing.

Hummmmm...I'm using a Steinberg ci2+. Its faster than the FG8 by about 0.2ms... sonically it sounds better than the FG8's converter too.

Do you recommend another brand? :)

I'm not familiar with this Steinberg, on paper looks good but who knows what are the drivers.
Borrow other interface and compare. I like roland's because they have very stable drivers.

im running their latest driver released last month.. no issue with my stuff playing Kontak4 (I know kontact 5 is out) and just recently fixed the click issue on Garritan Steinway Basic both running on logic and cubase.

the thing about roland's interface/mixer so far is i didn't like Edirol's digital mixers sound (noisy and not very dynamic) so im a little set off with Roland's interfaces. i may look into m-audio down the road.

BTW I just bought the very new novation impulse 49keys controller to travel with pianoteq,
RD is a little bit heavy for that LOL

^^ cool, keep us posted. i might get one as well because i want a physical mod wheel vs the joystick on my G to do some JABB3 playing... right now im using my FG8's slider1 and 2 for breath and vibrato (d-beam for growl), but i can't reach the bender without taking my hand off the sliders. not very cool. lol

i might just get a EWI USB...

for super portability i have a LPK25 in my computer bag. hahahaha. comes in handy when i want to jot in some musical notes in my MBP. :)
