Can you share patches between projects???

Can you share patches between projects???

Hey guys! I'm a little confused (again!)...here's the deal...

I just updated to version 1.5 software and as I was looking through it I found some good sounds that I'd like to use.

However, then I restored my previous project from version 1.3 with all my songs etc. etc. and all the new 1.5 patches were gone and all the old stuff was back on there...! I didn't realize that a "project restore" would actually erase all the new patches and what not...

So, my question is...is there a way to "share" patches between projects??? How can I use some of the new 1.5 patches with my songs that I created in 1.3?

Thanks!

Brian

You can do it using the Fantom G librarian software on your PC/MAC & a USB stick.

1) Save your existing project onto your USB stick via your FantomG then plug it into your PC/MAC

2) Open the Fantom Librarian software on your computer.

3) Goto File, Open & look for the fangsnd.svd file inside the project's SND folder you want to copy the new patches from.

4) Select Patch mode from the dropdown menu

5) Highlight the patches you want to copy, then from the top menu in the Librarian software and click edit then copy.

5) Now repeat steps 2 to 4 this time opening your existing project's fangsnd.svd file in the SND folder and scroll to the bottom of your patch list & highlight the first empty space.

6) Click Edit again & this time select Insert, the new patches will be appended to your existing patch list.

7) Click File & select Save.

8) Plug the USB stick back into your Fantom G, click Menu, Project & Load your project again.

that's it, your newly added patches will be available for you to play & edit. This same process can be applied to rhythm sets, samples, arpeggios, chords, etc simply by changing the Mode in the Librarian software.

It might be possible to do it solely on the Fantom G but i'm not sure how, the above method definitely works though, hope this helps.

No worries, not sure if you've stumbled across this site yet but there's loads of user created patches you can freely download and even upload some of your own ones you've made.

http://fantomg.navarin.de/

you can download the patches individually or grab all 160 of them in one archive here:

http://fantomg.navarin.de/patches/all

The patches you load into the Fantom G editor software then can save them from there directly into your Fantom.

There's also a liveset package with about 200 new sets which also contains all the original sets from 1.50 and most of them are at least on par with the Roland presets. This is achieved by replacing your projects fangsnd.svd file you were working with earlier (I started by creating a project based on this then added my own samples, patches & livesets in using the method I explained to you in the last post then finally added some of the patches I liked from that site using the G-Editor software)

Not sure who set the site up, someone on here I expect and kudos to them, it's a great, simple way to share our creations and expand the Fantom's sounds.

I'll have a look at that for sure! I'm really new to synths, been a guitar player all my life, so this is new to me...I really do appreciate the help!
