Fantom-G8 + JP8000 combo - any positive feedback?

Fantom-G8 + JP8000 combo - any positive feedback?

I've been a longtime JP8000 owner and will shortly be picking up the Fantom G8. I have seen a couple of studios (through the recent "what does your studio look like" threads) but would love to hear your opinion about the combination. This is namely for my own gratification as I'm extremely excited about picking up the Fantom G8 but would also love to get pumped up about the eventual combination.

Questions for those of you who own both synth's (or G6/G7 equivalent +JP8000):
- How has the is the MIDI Master/Slave relationship responded between the two?
- Any limitations (likely due to JP8000's software)?
- Any tips, suggestions or recommended software updates to create optimal environment?

I'll also be picking up the AX-90P Apex Column Keyboard stand, putting the Fantom on the lower arms & the JP on the upper. I love the look and functionality of this stand.

I have a FG6 and a JP-8000. Loving it. They contemplate each other. I've had no problems.

About the keyboard stand.. placing another synth on top of the Fantom G might obscure the d-beam and render it useless. The G8 might be wide enough for this not to happen, but my JP-8000 is on top of my FG6 and the d-beam will think there's a hand in the beam all the time. That is the only problem I see arising from this combination.

Looks like I'm adding a SH-10 GAIA to my setup too. And a modular synth... heheh

Good stuff, thank you Jesse. I hadn't thought about obstructing the D-beam, I'm hoping the G8's wider board will address it as you said.

I too have a JP-8000 and a Fantom G7. I find them to very complementary to each other. It's like every part that can't be done with the JP8000, the Fantom G will fill the bill.

I use mainly Z-style 2 tier stands, (On-Stage @$100 each), and yes the D-beam is rendered useless, But then again I really never had that much use for it anyway.

The sequencer in he Fantom G has dedicated external configurations that would be great to drive the JP-8000.

I give the combo a 5 finger rating.

And while the Gaia is on the short list, I think it will be a long time coming.

Good stuff Atlas, thanks for the reply. I agree with you on the D-beam bit. I'm assuming you can disable the functionality of the beam?

If I ever need to use it I'll just slide the JP over a bit..

Yes, you can turn the d-beam off.

I have a GW8 and one cool feature about the d-beam here is that I can use it to change patterns.

I also use the d-beam to trigger drums on the HPC-10.

So don't get me wrong the d-beam is great, Just not useful with my Fantom G applications.
