Hi all,

David Wills with ProAudioDVDs.com

We recently finished the Fantom-G epic (over 2.5 hours long!) and i just shipped some to Roland UK a few weeks ago. If you are unable to get a hold of them in the UK, you can always pick it up on our web site. We ship "over the pond" every day.

Cheers!

Hi there David!

From what I saw of the previews on Youtube, your video looks great. Eventhough I think I know my Fantom G quite well I could buy the tutorial.

Can I buy it using PayPal and can I download it straight away or is it DVD only? I rather just downlaod it and not pay for shipping fees..

Hi David,

Curious to know how deep and comprehensive is ProAudioDVDs.com Fantom G DVD.

Does DVD cover all Fantom G's Owner's Manual?

For instance, does it have a Detailed explanation about Quantizing?

Thank you,

SpyBar

Quantize at least has no own point in the content list.

I saw the demo and thought: nice help for beginners who prefer getting a basic overview by video instead of reading the manual. But as long as the other sections are like the demo, it does not look to me like going much beyond that. In the demo I didn't find a single thing which I hadn't known 3 weeks after buying the G.

The Fantom-G's GUI is so straightforward that once you get yourself around, there is only few things that you can't discover right away. These kinds of video tutorials are best suited for novice users or for people who don't have the time or the will to explore the possibilities of their workstation. Plus, I find it more amusing to find features for myself, rather having to depend on served food.

This DVD may be useful for beginners who are lazy to check out the manual or even the workshop tutorials. There really exist types of people who can't get much from reading, they need something to be explained to them visually.

However, on a negative note, at least with the demo video at the site, I think the presenter jumps from one part of the topic to another, which is kind of the opposite of how live (or video) education should happen. It should be structured, sequential, logically-connected pieces.

David is not a Roland employee. Though, we have contracted with him in the past on many, many projects.. In the case of the Fantom-G, this was done independently through his company -- not with the participation of RUS or Roland Japan. I'm sure it is fine and a good reference for new users to the "G".

You're a difficult one to please, Jim. I think your expectations are unrealistic. This DVD isn't being marketed as an advanced course or anything like that.

As we discussed in another thread, the ProAudioDVDs video is primarily an introductory tutorial, which will benefit people who don't much enjoy reading technical manuals or who like to mix different methods of learning.

And, for that purpose, it's very useful. If you already know the Fantom-G inside out, it's probably not for you, although sometimes those who regard themselves as experts don't actually know as much as they think they do.

I live in the UK and ordered the DVD on 22 December. It arrived before new year, which is pretty impressive considering all the downtime for public holidays during that period.

I can't blame ProAudioDVDs for focusing on the physical disk rather than downloads. The latter are rather too easy to distribute without paying.
