Most Complementary SRX Expansions for Fantom-X?

Most Complementary SRX Expansions for Fantom-X?

Of the ten currently-available SRX expansion boards, which ones do you feel offer the greatest addition to the built-in sounds of the Fantom-X without duplication? In other words, which four would you install to have the most flexible sound options at your fingertips?

I currently have the Ultimate Keys expansion, and am wondering if any of the others are really worth it.

I think that the variety of available boards, combined with the variety of applications that FS's and FX's are being put to make that one of the high points of Roland's hardware paradigm. Live gigging.........particular styles?????????????Jingle writing or sound track stuff???????????

So many great choices, and total flexibility, only highlighted with the added memory of the X.

Me, I have the 07 Ultimate Keys, but live gigging is my biggest thing. I'm considering one of the string boards and the 02 Piano also.

I suppose I should clarify: by flexible, I really mean *varied*. In other words, the Fantom-X already has quite a few string patches. While the Strings SRX board might have better samples, it wouldn't be adding entirely new sounds to the synth per se. If I had a specific requirement to model the best conceivable strings, I'd go with the specific sample that met the requirements. But not knowing ahead of time what my requirements are, how can I maximize the variety of sounds from the Fantom-X?

I'd guess maybe the 09 world expansion. I don't know how many ethnic sounds the X has, but it wouldn't seem like there would be tons of em. How is the x on brass sounds? the new srx10 board has many good one,s but you're limited to brass. The only other big bang for the buck board is probably the studio board, but I'd guess the X has as good or better wavs.
The srx boards seem to be tailored to specific things, rather than just a hodgepodge. The 6 7 8 and 9 boards are probably the most diverse since they combine 4 srjv boards into 1.

The most complementary SRX board is SRX17, which has vocal samples like "Oh, you are a good keyboard player", and "that's a fantastic tune you are playing"

Lol!!!

Depends of what you really need to complement your arsenal.

If you need some basic session sounds, the "Studio SRX" board may cover a bit.
Great congas and bongo sounds, a nice jazz guitar, also with octave and harmonic samples, a nice e. bass sound, flamenco guitar and great pop flute sounds.

To my ears, SRX-01 is indispensable for drums... Otherwise... Well, Search for sample libraries... Better saying, try to find a fantastic sample CD-ROM of drums and then, please, give me a way.

Well, what are your needs?

So NONE of you would recommend getting the DYNAMIC DRUMS expansion?

Did you read the message right above yours? or is maybe the word indispensable too big for you? LOL.
Well anyway, I was rather set against the SRX-01 myself before I got a good deal and bought one second hand. But now I must say I rather like it. I'm still a little miffed that they put room ambience on some of the samples rather than letting me effect them how I want. I usually have to edit the presets a bit before I use the kits, but it does add some nice acoustic drums to the Fantom. I think the acoustic drums on the Fantom X stock ROM suck.
